As a result, the eyepiece you use with it will not work at its native focal length, but at twice that. This actually increases magnification for the same eyepiece.

Calculation example

For example, if you have a telescope with a focal length of 1000mm and an eyepiece of 25 mm, then you have a magnification of 1000/25 = 40 times. Now, if you add a barlow to your telescope, the focal length is no longer 1000mm but 2000mm! If we repeat the calculation, we get a magnification of 2000/25 = 80 times.

Advantages of the Barlow

So, with the same eyepiece, you can vary the magnification of your optical set. That's the whole point of having a barlow. As such, you can double your range of eyepieces!

Explore Scientific Barlows quality

Explore Scientific barlows are excellent. Thanks to an ingenious four-lens system, they offer exceptional image quality across the entire field of vision. Perfect for observing, they can also be used for photography!

Principe de la Barlow Le principe d’une barlow est de multiplier la focale de votre instrument.
