It is designed for imaging planets, the Moon, deep-sky objects, the Milky Way, and meteors.

It combines an AR window, native 12-bit conversion, a 512 MB DDR3 buffer, and a single-stage TEC cooling system. A removable magnetic rear fan completes the cooling system.

Setup and Use

The sensor’s square format lends itself to compositions different from those of a rectangular sensor. The manufacturer specifically recommends using it with wide-angle lenses for meteor photography and sky monitoring. The protective window is AR-coated on both sides and covers the specified range of 400 to 1100 nm. Use with an LP825 filter is recommended for infrared imaging of the Milky Way; however, this filter should not be assumed to be included in all setups.

The magnetic cooling module can be removed or installed depending on the configuration. The housing incorporates a single-stage TEC cooling system. Cooling performance depends on ambient conditions, ventilation, and duration of exposure; it should not be equated with a fixed temperature guaranteed in all situations. The 512 MB DDR3 buffer memory supports image transmission.

The USB-C connection carries both data and power. Documented mechanical interfaces include C and CS mounts, as well as male and female M42 connectors. A 1.25-inch extension cable is included for compatible mounts. On the software side, the manufacturer lists ToupSky, the StellaVita app, and the ASCOM, INDI, and DirectShow interfaces; choose the drivers that correspond to the software and system you are using.

The options include the camera alone, the camera with a flexible tripod, the bundle with the GS100AR, and the bundle with StellaVita. These bundles do not include all available accessories at the same time; the contents depend on the option selected. The camera model remains the AE676C. This overview allows you to choose between integrating the camera into existing equipment or purchasing a bundle that corresponds to a specific configuration.

Technical specifications

Sensor

Sony IMX676 Color

Format

Square, 1/1.6 inch

Definition Announced

12.5 megapixels

Conversion

12 bits

Buffer memory

512 MB DDR3

Window

AR, 400 to 1,100 nm

Cooling

Single-stage TEC and removable magnetic fan

Interface

USB-C

Connections

CS, C, male M42, and female M42

The ToupTek AE676C is a versatile color camera equipped with a 12.5-megapixel square Sony IMX676 sensor in a 1/1.6-inch format.
