It is installed in the optical train between the telescope and the imaging accessories. Its large M92 interface allows you to set up a mount suitable for this size and then adjust the framing from the control software without having to rotate the camera by hand.

Prepare the framing and de-rotation

The rotator allows you to adjust the field of view to compose an image or reproduce an angle during a subsequent session. The manufacturer also documents its use for field derotation on an altazimuth mount, particularly in an advanced N.I.N.A. sequence. This function requires appropriate configuration of the mount, software, and derotation parameters: it does not, on its own, alter the instrument’s tracking.

The Pro V2 uses a patented rotation mechanism designed to maintain the rigidity of the mount as the angle changes. To determine whether your equipment is compatible, consider not only its mass but also the distance between its center of gravity and the rotator. The load capacity depends on this overhang. Also check that the eyepiece holder and the instrument’s mounts can support the entire optical train.

Interfaces and Optical Path Length

The body has an M92 female thread on each side. A standard M92 male adapter is included and can be attached to either side. The manual specifies a female thread depth of 8 mm for the Pro V2. Check the length of the threads on your fittings before assembly to prevent them from penetrating too deeply into the mechanism.

The manufacturer specifies an effective thickness of 16 mm. The profile measurement is 16.5 mm when including the contour of the rear cover: take this geometry and any adapters into account when preparing for installation. An adapter for the Takahashi FSQ106 645 0.72× reducer is sold separately by WandererAstro; verify the exact assembly and required focus before selecting it.

Power Supply and Control

The Pro V2 connects to the computer via USB and requires a 12-volt power supply. The USB cable is listed as included in the manual. The WandererEmpire software and the ASCOM driver enable its integration into a computer-controlled imaging system. The manual cites N.I.N.A. as an example of a connection and describes the settings required for derotation.

The body is made of aluminum alloy, and the rotator weighs 800 g. Its advertised speed and resolution make it easy to select a precise framing angle. The rotator comes with a male M92 adapter and a USB cable.

Technical specifications

Model

WandererRotator Pro V2 M92

Interfaces

M92 female on both ends; M92 male adapter included

Depth of the female thread

8 mm

Occupied depth

16 mm; side view with hood protrusion: 16.5 mm

Announced Couple

Maximum 10 N·m; the load depends on the position of the center of gravity

Rotation speed

3°/s

Motor specifications not announced

1,349 steps per degree, 0.0007° per step

Announced Effective Resolution

0,005°

Power supply

12 V; rated current consumption less than 0.5 A

Connection

USB 2.0 Type B; USB cable included

Mass

800 g

Material

Aluminum alloy

Official Introduction of the WandererRotator Pro V2

The WandererRotator Pro V2 is a motorized rotator designed to adjust the angle of an astrophotography camera.
