It is used to balance equipment mounted on a compatible mount. Its 20 mm center bore is the first thing to check before purchasing, especially if your mount’s bar has been replaced or if there are multiple versions of that mount.

The manufacturer states that these models are compatible with the iOptron CEM26 and CEM26EC mounts, HEM27 and HEM27EC, GEM28 and GEM28EC, HAE29, HAE43, and HAE69 (including their EC versions), as well as HEM44 and HEM44EC. It also lists the AZ Mount Pro, iEQ30 and iEQ30 Pro, CEM25 and its P and EC versions, ZEQ25 and MiniTower, MiniTower II, and MiniTower Pro.

The first versions of the CEM40 and CEM40EC are also listed, provided they are equipped with a 20-mm counterweight bar. iOptron asks that you verify this diameter before placing your order. The manufacturer notes that the counterweight can also be used with other mounts that have a 20 mm bar; check your mount’s specifications and instructions to select an appropriate weight.

The iOptron P-SGP-CWS rod has a listed diameter of 20 mm and is therefore compatible with this counterweight based on the published dimensions. In the HAE29C and HAE43C manuals, iOptron lists both items as optional accessories. The bar is a separate item: it is not listed as included with this counterweight. Verify that a compatible bar and its safety device are available on your system before installation.

For reference, iOptron lists an outer diameter of 118 mm and a height of 55.5 mm. The manufacturer notes, however, that actual dimensions may vary, with the exception of the inner diameter. When balancing, follow the instructions specific to the mount and adjust the counterweight’s position according to the equipment being used. The mount, bar, and other accessories shown in any product photos are not included with the counterweight.

Technical specifications

Reference

3006-10

Weight

4.5 kg

Inner diameter

20 mm

Approximate outer diameter

118 mm, subject to change

Approximate height

55.5 mm, subject to change

Bar

Sold separately

CEM40/CEM40EC

Older versions with 20-mm bars only; check the diameter

The iOptron 3006-10 4.5 kg counterweight is designed for 20 mm diameter counterweight bars.
