Its 32-mm body provides a clear aperture of 90 mm and a focusing travel of 10 mm.

Focusing in a Compact Space

The low-profile design is intended for astrographs and other instruments with a short remaining backfocus. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, the eyepiece holder can support up to 10 kg. Its movement is controlled with a resolution of 0.01 µm per step. This resolution refers to the motor’s step size; it does not represent an absolute measure of focus accuracy for any given camera or telescope.

What Makes This Version Unique

The movable tube travels toward the telescope end. On the camera side, the M98x1 female thread accommodates optional stop-ring adapters, which allow the camera to be locked at the desired angle. This direction of travel must be taken into account when determining the instrument’s mechanical clearance.

Control and Data Acquisition

The USB-C port connects the eyepiece holder to EAGLE or a Windows computer. PLAY enables its use in an astrophotography setup; the ASCOM driver allows control via compatible third-party software. Wi-Fi and the Virtual HandPad also allow for control via a phone or tablet. The status LEDs can be dimmed to minimize their brightness during a session. The presence of a thermal sensor port does not mean that a thermal sensor is included.

Prepare the fittings

The telescope-side and camera-side adapters must be selected separately based on the interfaces and available space. The stop rings on the camera adapters are used to lock the camera’s orientation. The 32 mm measurement refers to the eyepiece holder body and does not represent the length of a fully equipped optical train. When selecting extension tubes and adapters, you must take into account the corrector, the camera, and the focus position.

Add camera rotation

The ARCO port allows you to power and control a rotator via a single dedicated connection, without a USB connection or an additional 12 V power supply directly to the ARCO. This makes it possible to adjust the framing and use field de-rotation in a compatible altazimuth configuration. The rotator and its adapter remain optional. The manufacturer specifies that a USB cable is included for connecting to a computer, but the product page does not explain why a universal connector kit or an AC power adapter is automatically included in the package.

Technical specifications

Reference

PLLEST35LP

Version

ESATTO 3.5-inch LP

Body thickness

32 mm

Free opening

90 mm

Race

10 mm

Reported charge

10 kg

Resolution

0.01 µm per step

Mass

1,150 g

Connections

USB-C, Wi-Fi, ARCO port, temperature probe port

Control

PLAY, ASCOM driver, Virtual HandPad

Camera Interface

M98x1 female

PrimaLuceLab Official Fact Sheet

The ESATTO 3.5″ LP is a motorized eyepiece holder from PrimaLuceLab designed for telescopes with limited rear space.
