The Skywatcher STARQUEST-1145P is a compact, versatile Newton telescope designed for beginners and intermediate astronomers looking for a high-performance instrument that's easy to carry and simple to use. Part of the STARQUEST series, it combines high-quality parabolic optics with a stable, precise equatorial mount, ideal for observing the night sky.
With its excellent value for money and grab-and-go design, this model is perfect for quickly enjoying richly detailed observation sessions, whether in your garden or on the move.
STARQUEST-1145P is equipped with a parabolic primary mirror of 114 mm diameter, The parabolic design ensures sharp, high-contrast images. Unlike spherical mirrors, the parabolic design reduces optical aberrations and ensures greater precision, especially at high magnification.
Its treatment RAQ™ (Radiant Aluminum Quartz) offers up to 94 % reflectivity, This telescope's high quality, high-precision coating ensures excellent light transmission and enhanced durability. With a focal length of 500 mm (f/4.4), this telescope offers an ideal wide field of view:
Its light-gathering capacity is 125 % greater than that of a 76 mm telescope, for brighter, more detailed images.
The frame STARQUEST is designed for stability and precision. It features a high quality clutch system and a gear mechanism with 122 360° teeth on both axes (right ascension and declination).
Once correctly positioned (polar alignment), the mount can easily follow the movement of celestial objects thanks to its smooth slow-motion controls. This makes prolonged observation much easier, especially at high magnification.
With a maximum load capacity of 3 kg, it ensures excellent stability, even during detailed observations.
The STARQUEST-1145P is designed for easy portability. It is supplied with a adjustable aluminium tripod with a practical accessory tray.
Its compact design makes it ideal for outdoor observations, trips or impromptu evenings under the stars.
This telescope comes with everything you need to get started right away:
The smartphone holder makes it easy to take photos of the Moon and bright objects, making astronomy even more accessible and fun.
With a theoretical maximum magnification of x228, The STARQUEST-1145P enables you to explore a wide range of celestial objects with precision. Its combination of luminous optics and equatorial mount makes it an excellent all-rounder, suitable for both visual observation and first experiments in astrophotography.
The Skywatcher STARQUEST-1145P is a complete, reliable and high-performance telescope, ideal for discovering astronomy under the right conditions. Its precise equatorial mount, luminous optics and included accessories make it an excellent choice for making rapid progress and taking full advantage of the night sky.
The Moon in detail, the planets (Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings), and, under a dark sky, the brightest clusters and nebulae, such as the Orion Nebula. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 228× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often makes it necessary to stay below this limit.
Two eyepieces are included: 20 mm and 10 mm. With a 500 mm focal length, they provide 25× and 50× magnification. To determine the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.
It can still be transported by car: the tube weighs about 2.5 kg and the mount weighs about 6 kg.
Yes, just like any Newtonian telescope. A quick check every now and then is enough, especially after transporting it. With a collimation laser, it’s quick and easy. At f/4.4, it’s more demanding: a precise adjustment is clearly visible at high magnifications. The Sky-Watcher Collimation Guide (EN) explains the procedure.
The included smartphone adapter lets you take souvenir photos of the Moon and the planets—but that's all. Deep-sky photography isn't possible: the mount doesn't track the sky's movement.
