Visit Baader SkySurfer V is a multifunctional finder designed to make it easier to aim telescopes both day and night. It combines in a single device a red LED pointer and a Integrated Passive Solar Collector, making it easy to safely observe celestial objects as well as the Sun (with a suitable solar filter attached to the telescope).
Thanks to its design Night & Day, the SkySurfer V is equally suited for nighttime observations and solar observation. Its LED light offers three brightness levels to provide a red dot that is clearly visible in broad daylight while remaining discreet enough under a dark sky to preserve night vision.
The SkySurfer V projects a bright dot into the field of view to quickly guide the telescope to a star, planet, or any other celestial object. Since it operates without magnification, you can aim naturally with both eyes open, making pointing particularly fast and intuitive.
The three brightness levels allow you to adjust the intensity of the red dot to suit the observing conditions. The lowest level is specifically designed for astronomy so as not to obscure the faintest stars and to preserve the eye’s adaptation to darkness.
The SkySurfer V also features a passive solar researcher allowing you to easily center the Sun without having to look through an optical viewfinder. This solution makes solar alignment quick, comfortable, and particularly convenient for observations in white light or H-alpha.
The solar finder works by projecting the image of the Sun onto a reference mark, thereby allowing the telescope to be aligned without the risks associated with direct observation.
Important information: The solar tracker only assists with pointing. It is by no means a substitute for a solar filter mounted on the front of the telescope, which is essential for any safe observation of the Sun.
The 1× objective features a full multi-layer coating that effectively reduces internal reflections. It delivers a bright image while darkening the sky much less than many competing models.
The two 40-mm protective caps minimize fogging while effectively protecting the optical surfaces from stray light.
The SkySurfer V is made entirely of metal with a black anodized finish. Its rugged, water-resistant design ensures excellent reliability in the field, even under challenging conditions.
The protective caps are interchangeable to improve comfort depending on the telescope's configuration.
The search tool comes with the stand Baader RDM Red Dot Mount, compatible with most of the mount plates used by Celestron, Sky-Watcher, and Vixen.
A standard Baader mount is also included, allowing it to be mounted on many other telescopes.
Without its RDM mount, the SkySurfer V can also be installed directly on various types of rails:
The included spacer also features a Mini-Weaver-compatible dovetail, offering excellent mounting versatility.
