The NexStar Evolution 8 combines optical power and modern technology to offer intuitive and rewarding celestial exploration. Featuring an 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube, integrated WiFi connectivity and a long-life battery, this telescope is ideal for enthusiasts and ambitious novice astronomers alike.
With 4 auxiliary ports, the NexStar Evolution 8 offers maximum flexibility for adding accessories. Although it includes a NexStar+ manual override, this is optional thanks to connectivity with the SkyPortal app.
The NexStar Evolution 8 is much more than a telescope: it's a window onto the universe. With its powerful optics, modern connectivity and ergonomic design, it transforms every observing session into a captivating adventure. Whether you're a novice or an experienced observer, this telescope will accompany you on your most daring explorations.
The Moon in great detail and the planets: Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings. With a diameter of 203 mm, it captures a great deal of light: under a very dark sky, bright galaxies and nebulae become visible. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 406× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often limits observation to lower magnifications.
Two eyepieces are included: 40 mm and 13 mm. With a focal length of 2032 mm, they provide 51× and 156× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope’s focal length by that of the eyepiece.
It can still be transported by car: the tube weighs about 5.67 kg and is about 43.2 cm long, and the mount weighs about 7 kg (plus 5.44 kg for the tripod).
Rarely. The optics are adjusted at the factory; from time to time, a star test is sufficient: point the telescope at a bright star, defocus it slightly, and the rings should be perfectly concentric. If necessary, adjustments can be made using the screws on the secondary mirror.
The motorized mount tracks objects: this is ideal for filming the Moon and the planets with a smartphone or a small planetary camera, and the planets already appear large thanks to the 2032 mm focal length. Long exposures of the deep sky remain limited, since an azimuth mount rotates the field of view.
Optical tube, single-arm mount and tripod, accessory plate, built-in Wi-Fi, built-in lithium-iron battery, NexStar+ hand controller, 40 mm and 13 mm eyepieces, red-dot finder, visual back, right-angle prism, AC adapter (4 plugs).
Yes. The NexStar Evolution mount includes a rechargeable LiFePO4 battery (9.6 V, 4.5 Ah), and the AC power adapter is included. No additional power source is required.
