Sky-Watcher Explorer 200PDS HEQ5-R PRO Go-To

An ultra-stable, high-performance system for long exposure astrophotography and advanced observation

The Sky-Watcher Explorer 200PDS on HEQ5-R PRO Go-To is designed for demanding enthusiasts looking for a powerful, precise, automated telescope.
It features the excellent optics of the 200P Black Diamondwith two major improvements:

  • 2-inch Crayford eyepiece holder with 10:1 gear ratio for extremely fine focusing.
  • Shortened tube to facilitate direct focusing with an SLR or astro camera.

Photographic and visual performance is further enhanced when used with the Sky-Watcher coma corrector (ref. 20233).

💡 Important note: This model features a 58 mm secondary mirrorcompared with 52 mm for the Explorer 200P version, providing a improved field illuminationperfect for large sensor astrophotography.

Parabolic mirrors: optical precision and exceptional contrast

Visit high-quality parabolic mirrors of the 200PDS eliminate the spherical aberrations typical of short focal length optics.
They perfectly focus the light rays for a high level of efficiency. crisp, high-contrast image, rich in detailboth for observation and photography.

The ultimate combination for demanding astrophotographers

This 200 mm f/5 telescope mounted on a HEQ5-R PRO motorized and steerable is an excellent setup for deep-sky imaging.
Its load-bearing capacity and stability make it ideal for mounting cameras, guidescopes, filter wheels and other accessories.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What can you see with the Sky-Watcher Explorer-200PDS?

With a 200 mm aperture at f/5 and a 1,000 mm focal length, it is primarily an astrophotography instrument: when used with a camera, it is designed to photograph nebulae, galaxies, and clusters, offering a good balance between field of view and detail. For visual observation, it also reveals the Moon, the planets, and the brightest deep-sky objects.

Which eyepieces are included, and what are their magnifications?

Included eyepiece: 28 mm. With a focal length of 1,000 mm, it provides 36× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.

Is it easy to carry?

The tube weighs about 8.75 kg.

Should we aim it at him?

Yes, and with care: in astrophotography, an f/5 open-aperture Newtonian telescope requires precise collimation. A collimation laser simplifies the adjustment process. The Sky-Watcher Collimation Guide (EN) explains the procedure.

Can we take pictures?

Yes: The motorized equatorial mount tracks the movement of the sky, allowing for exposures of the Moon, the planets, and bright deep-sky objects. Its ST-4 autoguiding port then enables longer exposures.

What's in the box?

200 mm Newtonian telescope, 9×50 finder scope, 2″ eyepiece holder with 10:1 reduction ratio and 1.25″ / 2″ adapters, 28 mm LET 2″ eyepiece.

Does the Sky-Watcher Explorer 200PDS HEQ5-R PRO come with a power supply?

No. The Sky-Watcher HEQ5-R Pro mount does not come with a power supply. Required power supply: 9 to 12.6 V DC, 3 A. For home use, we recommend the'Pegasus Astro 12 V 10 A power supply with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm plug : regulated 12.5 V output, high current reserve, and it will later be able to power a Pegasus hub (Pocket Powerbox) for the camera and the anti-fog heaters. Its 12.5 V output remains below the maximum of 12.6 V accepted by the mount.
