Sky-Watcher Skymax 150 - Compact and powerful Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope

The Skymax 150 from Sky-Watcher is a telescope type Maksutov-Cassegrain designed to deliver exceptionally sharp images, with high contrast and detail. Thanks to its 1800 mm long focal length and its f/12 focal ratio, il est parfaitement adapté à l’observation planétaire, lunaire, et des étoiles doubles.

Des performances optiques d’une qualité impressionnante

The Skymax 150 uses a combination of borosilicate mirrors with exclusive coatings Radiant™ Aluminum Quartz™ (RAQ™), offering an impressive reflectivity of 94 %, and a corrective plate with MHTC™ (Metallic High-Transmission Coatings) treatment for maximum light transmission and effective reduction of chromatic aberration. The result? Sharp, high-contrast, color-fringe-free images worthy of professional-grade optics.

Compact and powerful

This telescope offers high magnification in a compact format, This makes installation and transport particularly simple. Thanks to its Maksutov design, it often outperforms Newton-type telescopes or refractors of similar size in terms of planetary detail.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What can you see with the Sky-Watcher Skymax-150 PRO?

The Moon in great detail, the planets (Jupiter’s bands, Saturn’s rings, Venus’s phases), and double stars: its long focal length naturally provides high magnification. Its 150-mm diameter also allows for viewing some bright clusters and nebulae. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 300× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often limits observation to lower magnifications.

Which eyepieces are included, and what are their magnifications?

Included eyepiece: 28 mm. With a focal length of 1,800 mm, it provides 64× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.

Is it easy to carry?

Yes, it's a lightweight instrument: the tube weighs about 5.6 kg and is about 40 cm long.

Should we aim it at him?

No, practically never: a Maksutov's optics are factory-adjusted and remain stable, which is one of its major advantages for beginners. To check, a star test is all it takes: point the telescope at a bright star, defocus it slightly, and the rings should be perfectly concentric.

Can we take pictures?

This tube is sold separately: its photographic capabilities depend on the mount you choose. With its long focal length (1,800 mm), it is primarily designed for planetary and lunar video recording on a motorized mount. The tube weighs approximately 5.6 kg: be sure to take this into account when considering the mount’s load capacity.

What's in the box?

150 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope, 9×50 finder scope, 2″ right-angle mirror, 28 mm LET eyepiece (2″), 45 mm dovetail.
