Askar's 32mm F4 Guide Scope is an excellent piece of guiding equipment for keen astronomers wishing to capture deep images of the sky. Its compactness, robustness and precision make it an indispensable tool for optimizing your astrophotography sessions.
This guide scope is a small 32-mm scope with a focal length of 128 mm (f/4). Mounted in parallel with your telescope alongside a guide camera, it is used for autoguiding: the software (PHD2, for example) tracks a star and corrects the mount’s movement during your exposures. It is suitable for guiding telescopes with focal lengths up to approximately 640 mm.
A guiding camera with 2.9 µm pixels (IMX462 or IMX290 sensors) provides approximately 4.7″ per pixel: accurate enough to guide a telescope or a small photographic lens. It connects via its M42×0.75 rear thread.
That's not what it's designed for: its achromatic objective is optimized for guiding, where minor chromatic aberrations are insignificant. For imaging, an apochromatic eyepiece makes all the difference.
