Frequently asked questions

What can you see with the Celestron Evolution C9.25?

The Moon in great detail and the planets: Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings. With a diameter of 235 mm, it captures a great deal of light: under a very dark sky, bright galaxies and nebulae become visible. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 470× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often limits observation to lower magnifications.

Which eyepieces are included, and what are their magnifications?

Two eyepieces are included: 40 mm and 13 mm. With a focal length of 2,350 mm, they provide 59× and 181× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.

Is it easy to carry?

It is an imposing instrument: the tube weighs about 9.07 kg and is about 55.9 cm long, and the mount weighs about 7 kg (plus 12.06 kg for the tripod).

Should we aim it at him?

Rarely. The optics are adjusted at the factory; from time to time, a star test is sufficient: point the telescope at a bright star, defocus it slightly, and the rings should be perfectly concentric. If necessary, adjustments can be made using the screws on the secondary mirror.

Can we take pictures?

The motorized mount tracks objects: this is ideal for filming the Moon and the planets with a smartphone or a small planetary camera, and the planets already appear large thanks to the 2,350 mm focal length. Long exposures of the deep sky remain limited, since an azimuth mount causes the field of view to rotate.

What's in the box?

Optical tube, single-arm mount and tripod, accessory plate, built-in Wi-Fi, built-in lithium-iron battery, NexStar+ hand controller, 40 mm and 13 mm eyepieces, red-dot finder, visual back, right-angle prism, AC adapter (4 plugs).

Does the Celestron Evolution C9.25″ SCT Wi-Fi come with a power supply?

Yes. The NexStar Evolution mount includes a rechargeable LiFePO4 battery (9.6 V, 4.5 Ah), and the AC power adapter is included. No additional power source is required.
