Sky-Watcher Explorer-200P EQ5 Pro SynScan GoTo telescope: power and automation for demanding astronomy

The Sky-Watcher EXPLORER-200P EQ5 SynScan GoTo is a high-performance Newton telescope designed for intermediate to advanced astronomers, yet accessible to particularly motivated beginners. Thanks to its large 200 mm diameter, It offers exceptional light-gathering capacity, enabling you to observe faint celestial objects with impressive clarity. Compared to a 150 mm model, it captures up to 77 % additional light, revealing far more subtle details in the deep sky.

With a focal length of 1000 mm and a focal ratio of f/5, This telescope offers an excellent compromise between wide field and resolving power. It is perfectly suited to observing the Moon and planets, as well as nebulae, galaxies, star clusters and double stars. Its versatility makes it a complete instrument for exploring the universe in all its richness.

High-precision parabolic optics

The Sky-Watcher EXPLORER-200P's parabolic primary mirror guarantees excellent correction of optical aberrations, delivering sharp, high-contrast images across the entire field. Combined with a high-quality secondary mirror, it makes full use of the 200 mm diameter.

The treatment Radiant™ Aluminum Quartz (RAQ™) ensures reflectivity up to 94 %, This coating optimizes image brightness while guaranteeing excellent durability. This coating effectively protects optical surfaces for consistent performance over time.

Ultra-thin secondary mirror supports from 0.5 mm reduce diffraction, improving the contrast and precision of observations, especially of planets and deep-sky objects.

Impressive visual performance

The telescope is supplied with two eyepieces of 25 mm and 10 mm, which enables magnifications of x40, x80, x100 and x200 thanks to the included x2 Barlow lens. Theoretical maximum capacity x400, ideal for observing lunar and planetary details when atmospheric conditions are favorable.

Thanks to its large aperture, galaxies appear more structured, nebulae gain in contrast and star clusters reveal an impressive density. This telescope pushes back the limits of visual observation.

EQ5 SynScan GoTo mount: precision and automation

The Sky-Watcher EXPLORER-200P is equipped with the EQ5 SynScan GoTo equatorial mount, with automatic, precise pointing of celestial objects. Thanks to its integrated database, you can easily select a target and let the system locate it automatically.

Visit double-axis stepper motors ensure smooth, precise tracking, compensating for the Earth's rotation. Once the mount is correctly aligned thanks to the integrated polar finder mount, objects remain centered in the field for long periods, ideal for extended observation and astrophotography.

The sturdy tripod in 1.75” stainless steel” ensures excellent stability, reducing vibrations for optimum viewing comfort. The integrated accessory tray keeps all your equipment close at hand.

Extended compatibility and astrophotography

The eyepiece holder Dual-Fit 1.25”/2” allows the use of a wide range of eyepieces and accessories, offering great evolutionary flexibility. This telescope also features a direct connection for SLR cameras, to capture astronomical images.

Thanks to its motorized mount and precise tracking capability, it's an excellent base for astrophotography, providing detailed images of the Moon, planets and deep sky.

Easy to find and use

The researcher 9×50 included makes it easy to locate celestial objects from the outset. Its brightness and magnification make it easy to locate targets quickly, even in star-rich areas.

Designed to be both high-performance and accessible, this telescope offers intuitive handling and optimum user comfort, for both quick observations and long sessions under the night sky.

Why choose the Sky-Watcher EXPLORER-200P EQ5 SynScan?

This telescope is an excellent choice for enthusiasts wishing to reach a higher level of observation with an automated system. Its large aperture, advanced optical quality and high-performance GoTo mount make it a complete, precise and versatile instrument.

Whether you're passionate about visual observation or want to get started in astrophotography, the Sky-Watcher EXPLORER-200P EQ5 SynScan GoTo offers all the performance you need to explore the universe with depth and precision.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What can you see with the Sky-Watcher Explorer-200P?

The Moon in great detail and the planets: Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings. With a diameter of 200 mm, it captures a lot of light: under a very dark sky, bright galaxies and nebulae become visible. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 400× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often limits observation to lower magnifications.

Which eyepieces are included, and what are their magnifications?

Two eyepieces are included: 25 mm and 10 mm. With a focal length of 1,000 mm, they provide 40× and 100× magnification. To determine the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by that of the eyepiece.

Is it easy to carry?

The tube weighs about 8.8 kg, the mount about 5.8 kg, and the tripod about 5.6 kg.

Should we aim it at him?

Yes, just like any Newtonian telescope. A quick check every now and then is enough, especially after transporting it. With a collimation laser, it’s quick and easy. At f/5, it’s more demanding: a precise adjustment is clearly visible at high magnifications. The Sky-Watcher Collimation Guide (EN) explains the procedure.

Can we take pictures?

Yes: The motorized equatorial mount tracks the movement of the sky, allowing for long exposures of the Moon, the planets, and bright deep-sky objects.

What's in the box?

200 mm Newtonian telescope, 2″ and 1.25″ eyepiece holders, 9×50 finder scope, 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces, 2× Barlow lens with photo adapter.

L'alimentation est-elle fournie avec le Sky-Watcher Explorer-200P EQ5 Pro SynScan GoTo ?

No. The Sky-Watcher EQ5 Pro SynScan mount does not come with a power supply. Required power supply: 12 V DC (11 to 15 V), 2 A, positive center. For home use, we recommend the'Pegasus Astro 12 V 10 A power supply with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm plug : regulated 12.5 V output, high current reserve, and it will later be able to power a Pegasus hub (Pocket Powerbox) for the camera and the anti-fog heating elements.
