ToupTek G3M662M: Infrared kit with LP825 filter and CS-mount lens

This kit combines the ToupTek G3M662M camera with the infrared accessory designed for this series, including an LP825 infrared filter and a CS-mount lens. It allows you to set up a Milky Way photography setup without a telescope.

The camera features a Sony IMX662 monochrome sensor with 2.9 µm pixels. The kit uses the extended CS-mount version, not the standard C-mount housing.

Setup and Use

The LP825 filter and the CS lens do not serve the same purpose. The filter selects the infrared portion of the light; the lens forms the image on the sensor in a wide-field configuration. This setup therefore differs from a camera alone connected to a telescope. It is important to ensure compatibility between the camera model and the selected accessory, even when components from different kits look similar.

The term “infrared-pass” is important: this is not an IR-cut filter designed to block infrared light. The assembly must allow the relevant wavelength band to reach the sensor. For G3M cameras offered with multiple windows, the infrared kit uses the configuration compatible with that specific application, rather than an arbitrarily chosen IR-cut variant. The extended versions with CS mounts are distinguished from the standard versions with C mounts.

The manufacturer presents this accessory for photographing the Milky Way without a telescope, particularly under skies affected by light pollution. This use does not eliminate the need to adjust the exposure, focus, and post-processing to the conditions of the shoot. The kit does not guarantee identical results regardless of sky conditions. You should also set up the camera controls and make the necessary connections for capturing the images.

This product sheet applies to the specified camera along with its LP825 accessory and lens; it does not apply to the accessory alone. It is therefore distinct from the product sheets for the camera alone and the LP825 sold separately. When different housing finishes are available, they do not change the optical configuration of the kit. Verify the exact model and selected configuration before installation, and keep the manufacturer’s instructions corresponding to the model used.
