Askar V: a new-generation telescope

The Askar V is a telescope designed to meet the needs of both experienced and novice astronomy enthusiasts. What makes this instrument unique is its interchangeable astrograph system - a world first! This means you can adapt different lenses and accessories to get exactly the kind of image or observation you want.

1. Two interchangeable lenses

Askar V is supplied with two interchangeable lenses:

  • 60mm lens: Wide field of view, ideal for capturing large swathes of sky.
  • 80mm lens: Higher resolution for observing finer details on distant objects.

These lenses use a triplet APO (Apochromatic) design with three lenses, two of which are made of ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass to minimize chromatic aberrations.

2. Focus and Image Adjustment Accessories

  • The Reducer: Widens the field of view and reduces exposure time.
    • 60mm: 270mm focal length, f/4.5
    • 80mm: 384mm focal length, f/4.8
  • The Flattener: Corrects field curvature for sharper images.
    • 60mm: 360mm focal length, f/6
    • 80mm: 495mm focal length, f/6.18
  • The Extender: Increase focal length to zoom in on smaller objects.
    • 60mm: 446mm focal length, f/7.43
    • 80mm: 600mm focal length, f/7.5

3. Practical features and accessories

  • 360° rotator for angle adjustment.
  • Researcher database (Vixen compatible).
  • Focusing wheel cap.
  • 1.25" and 2" adapters with thread for 2" filter.
  • Multifunctional handle and retractable sunshade.

4. Design and Quality

Elegant design in ivory white and silver, with high-precision manufacturing for optimum performance under the starry sky.

5. Summarized technical data

  • 60mm lens:
    • Native focal length: 360mm, f/6
    • Weight: 2.8kg
    • Length: 318.5mm
  • 80mm lens:
    • Native focal length: 500mm, f/6.25
    • Weight: 3.4kg
    • Length: 411mm (contracted) / 479mm (extended sunshade)
  • Accessories :
    • Reducer: 0.44kg
    • Flattener: 0.48kg
    • Extender: 0.46kg

Why choose Askar V?

Thanks to its interchangeable system, Askar V offers unrivalled flexibility, enabling the instrument to be adapted to the specific needs of astronomers and astrophotographers.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Which camera should I pair it with?

Avec une caméra APS-C à pixels de 3,76 µm (capteur Sony IMX571), vous obtenez environ 1,55″ par pixel pour un champ de 2,7° × 1,8°.

Do you need a leveling device or a reducer?

What backfocus should be used?

What kind of frame should I choose?

Can it also be used as a visual?

Yes, as a bonus: with an angled mirror and an eyepiece, it provides high-contrast, color-accurate images of the Moon, the planets, and double stars, up to about 160×.
