The WandererAstro adapter kit is designed to mount the Wanderer FilterCube filter wheel on a RASA 36 telescope. The manufacturer notes that this kit is required for this installation. It includes two rings—one large and one small—whose use depends on the camera’s back focus distance.
The adapter page shows a setup using only the large ring for a camera with a back distance of 17.5 mm. However, the FilterCube main page lists a back distance of less than 17.5 mm, while its user manual includes this value. This limit must be confirmed for your specific setup before placing an order. For a camera with a back focus of 12.5 mm, the small ring is placed between the large ring and the FilterCube. The choice of setup therefore depends on the actual camera used and its configuration, and not just on the telescope’s name.
It is important to measure the rear distance of the camera using the rings that will actually be installed. Some cameras may have different distances depending on their configuration. If your camera’s value differs from the two cases described above, have your optical assembly checked before selecting the rings: the kit page does not list all possible configurations.
The FilterCube is a filter wheel designed for 2-inch mounted filters or 50-mm unmounted filters. The manufacturer specifically recommends it for the RASA 11 and RASA 36 systems. The kit described here is specifically for installation on the RASA 36. The manufacturer states that the FilterCube is not compatible with HyperStar systems or the RASA 8: this adapter should not be presented as a solution for those systems.
The FilterCube manual states that connecting to a RASA requires the retaining ring supplied with the telescope, and notes that the transparent optical window must be removed according to the RASA’s specific instructions. Consult both your instrument’s manual and the FilterCube manual before assembly to verify the parts and steps that apply to your configuration.
The kit includes one large and one small adapter ring. The FilterCube, telescope, camera, and filters are sold separately. Before purchasing, verify the telescope model, the filter wheel used, and the camera’s back focus distance. The information in this sheet describes the two examples provided by the manufacturer for this adapter; it does not replace verification of the complete setup.
