Adapting a Takahashi Epsilon to the Wanderer FETA M92

WandererAstro offers three separate kits for installing the FETA M92 on Takahashi Epsilon 130, 160, and 180 telescopes. The E130 and E160 versions are mount replacement kits; the E180 version is a specific adapter kit. Each kit replaces the original focusing system of the corresponding telescope and must be selected for the exact telescope model.

Choose the kit that matches your instrument

The WSRK-E130 kit is designed for the Epsilon 130, and the WSRK-E160 for the Epsilon 160. They allow you to install the Wanderer FETA M92 in place of the original eyepiece holder. The WFETA92-E180A kit serves this purpose on the Epsilon 180. These three part numbers are not listed as interchangeable: check your instrument’s model number and current configuration before making a selection.

The manufacturer specifies that the unit is installed upstream of the Epsilon corrector. It does not interfere with the Wanderer ETA M54 when it is installed behind this corrector. These instructions describe the layout recommended by WandererAstro; before installation, verify the complete configuration and the space required for your own optical train.

Attach the FETA and, if necessary, a rotator

The kits are designed to accommodate the Wanderer FETA M92. The manufacturer also notes that a WandererRotator Lite V2 can be installed as an option. The replacement kit, the FETA, the rotator, and the ETA each serve different functions: choose the components you need for your setup and verify their connections before dismantling the existing configuration.

After installation, WandererAstro indicates that the Epsilon should reach focus when the FETA is approximately halfway through its travel. This indication depends on the configuration and must be verified during assembly using the actual accessories. Also check the focus required by the corrector and the camera: downstream accessories must maintain their own appropriate alignment.

Prepare the assembly

Replacing the original focusing system alters the telescope's mechanical assembly. Consult the manufacturer's instructions for the version you have chosen and identify which parts to remove and install before you begin. Check the clearance around the tube and the cable routing if your setup includes motorized accessories.

The FETA M92 and the WandererRotator Lite V2 are separate items from the kit described here. The telescopes, correctors, cameras, and other accessories used in the setup examples are not included in the kit.
