The WandererBox Lite V3 is a 12-volt power distributor and USB hub designed for astrophotography setups. Its compact housing features five DC outputs and four USB ports located close to the equipment. It allows you to connect multiple accessories to the telescope and consolidate their USB connections to the image-capture computer.
The Lite V3 is powered by an external 12 V power supply via a 5.5 × 2.1 mm DC input. Its five DC outputs remain powered at all times; they do not have individual or remote control capabilities. This distinction is important if you want to restart a device without cutting power to the entire system. The Lite version does not replace a controller capable of switching ports or adjusting their voltage.
The manufacturer specifies an 8 A input limit. Before plugging in the equipment, check its voltage, connectors, and power consumption, as well as the capacity of the external power supply. The presence of five outlets does not mean that each one can handle its maximum load at the same time: the total load must not exceed the power supply’s input limits.
The enclosure has one USB 3.1 port and three USB 2.0 ports. WandererAstro recommends using the high-speed port for a camera and the USB 2.0 ports for other devices, such as a mount or a WandererCover panel. The four ports share a 5 V power supply capable of delivering up to 3 A. Therefore, you should check the combined power requirements of the connected USB devices.
The USB ports on this model cannot be switched via software. The Lite V3 is therefore suitable for an installation that aims to consolidate connections without the need to control each output remotely. To control a heating element or programmable outputs, you must choose a device that offers these features.
The housing weighs 88 g and measures 6.8 × 5.1 × 2.3 cm. Its underside features one M6 threaded hole and two M4 threaded holes, each 4 mm deep, for mounting it to a suitable structure. The manufacturer offers separate mounts; check their compatibility with your setup before selecting them.
WandererAstro offers protection against power surges, short circuits, overcurrent, and electrostatic discharge. To prepare your setup, choose cables and connectors that are compatible with the devices you want to connect.
