The Sky-Watcher StarTravel 150/750 with HEQ5-R PRO SynScan Go-To mount is a complete kit for demanding astronomers who want to combine optical power, tracking precision and ease of use. Thanks to its 150 mm wide-field refractor and high-precision motorized equatorial mount, this kit is ideal for advanced visual observation and astrophotography.
The StarTravel 150/750 is a refracting telescope with a two-lens achromatic lens. This design effectively reduces chromatic aberrations by improving the convergence of different wavelengths, delivering sharper, higher-contrast images than with standard optics.
With a 150 mm opening and a 750 mm focal length (f/5), This telescope is designed for observations in rich-field. He excels at observing nebulaeand star clusterand star fieldsand comets and luminous galaxies. It also allows for beautiful observations of the Moonand planets and Sun (with suitable filter).
Its objective Multi-Coated optimizes light transmission, guaranteeing excellent brightness and enhanced contrast. The eyepieces supplied allow magnifications from x30 and x75, while the maximum useful magnification can reach x300.
Visit HEQ5-R PRO SynScan™ equatorial mount is the benchmark for amateur astronomers looking for a high-performance Go-To system. Designed to be accessible to beginners while meeting the requirements of advanced users, it automatically locates and tracks celestial objects.
Thanks to its intuitive control panel, You can point your telescope at a specific object or launch a guided sky tour in seconds. Its impressive database contains more than 42,900 items, including the Messier, NGC, IC and Caldwell catalogs, as well as planets, double and variable stars.
Pointing accuracy reaches 1 minute of arc, with software compensation for mechanical errors. Stepper motors (1.8° with 64 microsteps) ensure smooth, precise movement, with pointing speeds up to 800x (3.4°/second).
The frame also features advanced functions such as :
Its robust design guarantees optimum stability, essential for detailed observations and long exposure photography.
Thanks to its fast focal ratio and the precision of the HEQ5-R PRO mount, this telescope is perfectly suited for astronomical photography. It lets you capture deep-sky objects, lunar and solar eclipses, as well as celestial landscapes rich in detail.
Visit direct connection for SLR cameras makes it easy to set up photographic equipment, while the autoguiding interface improves precision during long exposures.
This complete kit includes everything you need to get started right away:
Please note: the power supply required for the mount is not included.
The Sky-Watcher StarTravel 150/750 HEQ5-R PRO SynScan is a complete, powerful and upgradeable package, perfectly suited to advanced observation and precision astrophotography. It represents an excellent investment for exploring the universe with performance and comfort.
The Sky-Watcher StarTravel 150/750 is a 150-mm achromatic refractor with a focal length of 750 mm (f/5), an ideal visual observation instrument for beginners. It reveals the Moon with exceptional sharpness, Jupiter’s bands and Great Red Spot, Saturn’s Cassini Division, double stars, and the largest deep-sky objects: the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, globular clusters such as M13, and large open clusters. Its short focal ratio provides wide fields of view, perfect for sweeping the Milky Way; when observing planets at high magnification, a faint colored halo appears around bright objects.
Yes. Like any telescope, it is collimated at the factory and requires no optical adjustments: just set it up, let the tube sit outside for a few minutes, and start observing. The enclosed tube stays clean, and maintenance is minimal. Once aligned with two or three stars, the GoTo mount points to and tracks objects for you.
For a comparable diameter, an achromatic telescope is generally less expensive than a Maksutov, warms up faster, and has no central obstruction, which preserves contrast. With a focal length of only 750 mm—compared to often more than double that for a Maksutov—it offers a much wider field of view for star clusters and large nebulae; the Maksutov retains the advantage of high planetary magnification.
Included eyepieces: 25 mm (30×) and 10 mm (75×). The magnification is calculated by dividing the telescope’s focal length (750 mm) by that of the eyepiece. To explore the Moon and the planets in greater detail, a 4-mm eyepiece (188×) is a good addition to the kit; the maximum useful magnification is around 300×.
That’s not what it’s designed for. An achromatic objective lens leaves a purple halo around stars and bright objects: in astrophotography, this flaw is very noticeable. For deep-sky photography, an apochromatic refractor is the right tool. The Sky-Watcher StarTravel 150/750 remains, above all, an excellent observational instrument. The only somewhat specialized exception is that a large achromatic telescope like this one can be used with a DayStar Quark filter to observe and photograph the Sun in H-alpha, with a suitable energy-rejection filter (ERF) attached to the front.
Astrophotography load capacity: 15 kg. With this telescope tube, this margin ensures a stable image even at high magnifications. The HEQ5-R Pro is motorized on both axes, featuring GoTo SynScan, Wi-Fi control via smartphone, and an ST-4 autoguiding port: it points to and tracks objects for you. If you decide to take up astrophotography later on, it can accommodate a dedicated apochromatic refractor.
No. The HEQ5-R Pro SynScan mount does not come with a power supply. It requires 9 to 12.6 V DC, 3 A. For home use, we recommend the'Pegasus Astro 12 V 10 A power supply (2.1 mm plug) : regulated voltage, high current reserve, and it can later power a hub for the camera and the anti-fog resistors.
