Visit Celestron optical splitter is an essential accessory for achieving precise tracking with long-focal-length instruments, such as Schmidt-Cassegrain, EdgeHD, or other telescopes used in demanding astrophotography.
Unlike a separate guide scope, the optical splitter captures a small portion of the main instrument’s focal plane using a built-in prism. The guide star is therefore captured directly within the same optical path as the image being acquired. As a result, errors caused by mechanical flexure, alignment differences, or aberrations between the two instruments are significantly reduced.
With an optical divider, every movement detected on the guide star corresponds directly to the actual movement of the image captured by your main camera. This improves tracking accuracy, especially with long focal lengths, where even the slightest error becomes visible.
The result is simple: sharper images, more stable tracking, and more clearly defined stars, even during long exposures.
