0.71x focal reducer for VSD90SS / VSD70SS

Introducing the 0.71x Focal Length Reducer for Vixen VSD90SS

The 0.71x focal reducer for Vixen VSD90SS is an accessory specially designed to optimize the astrophotographic performance of the VSD90SS astrograph. It reduces the focal length and aperture ratio, enabling even wider fields to be captured with increased brightness, while maintaining exceptional image quality.

Technical specifications

• Reduction factor : 0.71x, reducing the focal length of the VSD90SS from 495 mm to 351 mm.
• Opening report : Goes from f/5.5 to a fast f/3.9, ideal for deep-sky objects requiring short exposure times.
• Corrected image circle : Maintains a wide, perfectly corrected image circle up to 60 mm, compatible with full-frame and even large sensors.
• Advanced optical design : Integrates multiple optical elements with multi-coating to minimize chromatic aberration, coma and vignetting.

Performance

1. Wide-field astrophotography

• The reducer enlarges the field of view, making it possible to capture extended objects such as the Orion nebula, the Andromeda galaxy or rich stellar fields.
• Ideal for modern high-resolution sensors thanks to its full-field optical correction.

2. Short exposure times

• With a fast f/3.9 focal ratio, it dramatically increases brightness, reducing the exposure times needed to obtain detailed images.

3. Outstanding image quality

• Effectively corrects optical aberrations across the entire field, guaranteeing pinpoint stars right up to the edges of the sensor.

Compatibility

• Designed exclusively for the Vixen VSD90SS telescope.
• Attaches directly to the VSD90SS eyepiece holder without the need for additional adapters.
• Compatible with cameras equipped with full-format or APS-C sensors via a standard thread.

Main applications

• Wide-field astrophotography : Capture large, complex objects with high contrast and perfect sharpness.
• Scientific imaging : Ideal for projects requiring optical precision over a wide field.
• Quick photo: Significantly reduced exposure times thanks to fast aperture (f/3.9).

Key benefits

• Dramatically increases the versatility of the VSD90SS : By broadening its scope of application.
• Maintains exceptional optical quality: Even with demanding sensors.
• Faster, more efficient imaging: Thanks to its reduced focal ratio.

Conclusion

In short, the 0.71x focal reducer for Vixen VSD90SS is an indispensable accessory for astrophotographers seeking to maximize their efficiency and capture spectacular deep-sky images over an ultra-wide field of view. It perfectly complements the VSD90SS astrograph, exploiting its full optical potential.
