The Bresser Messier 6″ Planetary Dobsonian is a compact, high-performance table telescope, perfect for beginners and advanced astronomers alike. Thanks to its 150 mm parabolic mirror and 1200 mm focal length (f/8), it offers clear, bright images of the deep sky and solar system objects. Its portable design and quick set-up make it an ideal companion for observations at home or on the move.
Why is it called a planetary telescope? Because its 1,200-mm focal length allows for much greater magnification—which is exactly what we’re looking for in a planetary telescope!
It comes pre-assembled and is ready to use in just a few minutes. It is equipped with a 6×30 optical finder, a 25-mm Super Plössl eyepiece, a lunar filter, and a high-quality solar filter for safe solar observations. A built-in compass and a circular level make it easy to orient the telescope.
This telescope is also compatible with other mounts, making it suitable for astrophotography. Its versatility and ease of use make it an excellent choice for exploring the night sky and the Sun.
The Moon in detail, the planets (Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings), and, under a dark sky, the brightest star clusters and nebulae, such as the Orion Nebula. Its maximum useful magnification is about 300× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often makes it necessary to stay below this limit.
Included eyepiece: 25 mm. With a focal length of 1,200 mm, it provides 48× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.
It can still be transported by car: the tube weighs about 8.3 kg and the mount about 7.8 kg. The tube and the base can be separated for transport.
Yes, just like any Newtonian telescope. A quick check every now and then is enough, especially after transporting it. With a collimation laser, it’s quick and easy. At f/8, it’s fairly forgiving: a slight misalignment is hardly noticeable.
With a smartphone adapter, you can take souvenir photos of the Moon and the planets—but that's all. Deep-sky photography isn't possible: the mount doesn't track the sky's movement.
Newtonian optical tube 150/1200 mm, Dobsonian mount (self-assembly), full-aperture solar filter, 6×30 finder scope, 25 mm (1.25″) SuperPlössl eyepiece, 25 mm extension tube for 2″ eyepiece holder, 1.25″/2″ adapter, 2 tube clamps, 2 altitude wheels.
Here are a few accessories we've selected for this model, depending on your needs.
1.25-inch filter designed to screw onto a compatible eyepiece.
Barlow Tele Vue 2×; magnification limited by the sky and the telescope.
An alternative to the eyepieces already included in the kit.
Baader 8–24 mm zoom lens (sold separately); the dedicated Barlow lens is sold separately.
2.25× Barlow lens, designed to be used with the Baader zoom lens (sold separately).
Nagler 13 mm, our favorite; an alternative to other eyepieces.
Zoom 3–8 mm: Adjust the magnification to suit the conditions and check the focus.
