A 305 mm Dobson telescope for demanding observers... on the move!
The Sky-Watcher Skyliner 300P FlexTube features an impressive 305 mm diameter parabolic primary mirror, capable of revealing the finest structures in nebulae, galaxies and planets. Thanks to its ingenious FlexTubeDespite its large size, it is easy to transport - ideal for enthusiasts looking for a large diameter without sacrificing practicality.
NEW : Comes with two wide-angle eyepieces (12.5 mm and 20 mm—70° field of view), a 1.25″ adapter with a brass clamping ring to protect your accessories, and a universal smartphone adapter. Perfect for capturing your best observations in just a few seconds.
The system FlexTube allows the optical tube to be retracted in an instant, reducing its length from 144 cm to just 92.5 cm. This unique design simplifies transport, storage and loading in a car. Once extended, a 3-point locking system guarantees rigidity and stability, even during prolonged observation at high magnification.
Based on John Dobson's alt-azimuth principle, this stable wooden mount moves the telescope smoothly on two axes without motors or electronics. Manual tracking is intuitive and natural. Assembly is rapid, requiring no complex tools.
The primary mirror parabolic 305 mm, with RAQ™ (Radiant Aluminum Quartz) coating, offers a reflectivity of up to 94 % for stunning images. The ultra-thin 0.5 mm secondary mirror minimizes diffraction and delivers superior image sharpness. Whether you’re observing the spiral arms of a galaxy or the divisions in Saturn’s rings, the Skyliner 300P offers exceptional clarity.
The Sky-Watcher Skyliner 300P FlexTube is a top-of-the-range Dobson telescope designed for astronomy enthusiasts. It combines the power of a large diameter with the ingenuity of a retractable design, without compromising on optical quality or ease of use. A must-have for unforgettable nights of observation.
The Moon in great detail and the planets: Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings. With a diameter of 305 mm, it captures a great deal of light: under a very dark sky, bright galaxies and nebulae become visible. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 610× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often limits observation to lower magnifications.
Two eyepieces are included: 20 mm and 12.5 mm. With a focal length of 1,500 mm, they provide 75× and 120× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.
It is an imposing instrument: the tube weighs about 21 kg and is approximately 140 cm long, and the mount weighs about 17.8 kg. The tube and the base can be separated for transport.
Yes, just like any Newtonian telescope. A quick check every now and then is enough, especially after transporting it. With a collimation laser, it’s quick and easy. At f/4.9, it’s more demanding: a precise adjustment is clearly visible at high magnifications. The Sky-Watcher Collimation Guide (EN) explains the procedure.
With a smartphone adapter, you can take souvenir photos of the Moon and the planets—but that's all. Deep-sky photography isn't possible: the mount doesn't track the sky's movement.
