DayStar Quark Magnesium I b2-line

Presentation

The Quark Magnesium I b2-line opens up a new window of solar observation, revealing
strong areas magnetized of the Sun in the bright Magnesium I (b2) at 5172.8 Å.
As the human eye is particularly sensitive to this wavelength, the image obtained is more "bright". such as Calcium, Alpha Hydrogen or even Sodium,
which greatly facilitates visual observation and reduces exposure time for photography.

What is the purpose of the Magnesium I b2 filter?

  • Observe active beaches (beach) and large solar magnetic structures.
  • Detecting dark mottling chromospheric network.
  • Highlight the Zeeman phenomenonwhere the absorption line is "split" by an intense magnetic field.
  • Explore areas ofvery high energy activityinvisible at other wavelengths.

Add Magnesium to Your Solar Equipment

You can already see that in H-alpha ? The Quark Magnesium provides a complementary view of active regions and the chromospheric network. Its value lies in allowing you to take multiple observations with a compatible telescope and then compare your images at different wavelengths. The filter holder and accessories must be verified for each filter.

This model is designed for F/4 to F/8 refractors. The DayStar Official Compatibility Checker helps guide the decision; the Specific instructions for Quark Magnesium remain decisive factors, particularly the incompatibility of red or yellow ERFs with this species.

Moving from visuals to imagery

Visit DayStar Solar Accessories allow you to adapt the connection to the eyepiece or camera: 1.25-inch or 2-inch connectors, T- or C-mounts, and adapters, depending on the model. Thread compatibility, focus extension, and focus must be checked for each combination. Accessories are sold separately.

In astrophotography, a DayStar tilt adapter can help reduce Newton's rings. The results depend on the camera and the settings; see the Manufacturer's installation instructions to choose the right adapter.
