The center-balanced equatorial mount iOptron CEM120 he standard version is designed for astronomers and astrophotographers wishing to combine high payload capacity with mechanical robustness. With a payload of up to 54.4 kg (120 lb), it can support large, heavily-equipped catadioptric or dobson telescopes. Its Center-Balanced Equatorial Mount design reduces vibration while ensuring smooth, precise tracking for visual observation and short-to-medium exposures.
Ideal for heavy visual observation configurations, the standard version of the CEM120 offers a stable base with no on-board electronics, allowing the user to integrate the tracking or encoder system of his choice. Its all-metal design guarantees long life and optimum rigidity when installing large optical tubes.
Visit CEM120 EC incorporates a high-resolution encoder on the right ascension axis to provide real-time periodic error correction (RPEC). Combined with the Go2Nova® 8408 controller, this version enables more precise tracking over long exposures, without the need for external autoguiding, for sessions lasting up to a few minutes.
The EC version retains the mechanical features of the standard CEM120 while adding high-performance on-board electronics, ideal for moderate to advanced astrophotography without immediately investing in an autoguider. Real-time PEC correction significantly improves tracking accuracy and reduces image artifacts.
Visit CEM120 EC2 goes one step further by integrating two high-resolution encoders (AD and DEC axes) for real-time bidirectional correction, offering maximum stability and precision for long exposure astrophotography and deep imaging. Combined with the Go2Nova 8408+ controller, it meets the requirements of the most demanding imaging projects.
Designed for deep imaging, the CEM120 EC2 offers exceptional resistance to imbalance and vibration thanks to its dual-axis sensors, guaranteeing uncompromising image quality. It reduces the need for external corrections and simplifies the workflow of professional astrophotographers.

Observatory or fixed-site mount for astrophotography with instruments weighing up to 52 kg: 14″ Schmidt-Cassegrain, 12″ Ritchey-Chrétien, large refractors. Recommended capacity for astrophotography: 39 kg, or 75 % of the advertised load, to maintain precise tracking.
High-capacity equatorial mount with central balancing (52 kg for a 26 kg head), featuring USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi. EC version: high-resolution encoder on the AD axis (residual error < 0.15″ RMS).
The iOptron CEM120 EC is powered by 12 V DC, 5 A; a power adapter is included. Power consumption: 0.7 A during tracking, 1.8 A during GoTo. The power supply is included. The included AC adapter is intended for indoor use; in the field, use a 12 V battery.
The iOptron CEM120 EC is sold without a tripod. It is designed for use with a fixed pillar or observatory column rated for the total load.
The iOptron CEM120 EC can be controlled using a hand controller, a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi, or a computer via USB or Ethernet (ASCOM). For autoguiding (ST4 port), a guide scope such as the 52 Scope guide or the Sky-Watcher EVOGUIDE-50ED is appropriate.
