The RoF-SPIDER-3 Radio-over-Fiber kit replaces the coaxial connection between the SPIDER 300A Mark II antenna and the H142-PRO receiver with fiber-optic transmission. It is designed to minimize the gain loss associated with the length of the coaxial cables.
The manufacturer describes converters to be installed on the antenna and a converter located in the control room, near the H142-PRO. The optical link must be selected to be the length required for the site; no standard length is specified for this model.
This system is specifically designed for the 1,420 MHz SPIDER Mark II. It is not compatible with the first-generation SPIDER and is not intended for use with other systems or applications. It should also not be confused with a fiber-optic mount control link: the function described here is that of the radio link between the antenna and the receiver.
