Skywatcher Heritage-100P: the ultimate travel Dobson

Compact, lightweight and incredibly practical Skywatcher Heritage-100P is a tabletop Dobson telescope designed for those who want to observe the sky without constraints. Whether you're hiking, camping or even flying, this little Newton is ready to go wherever you are. Thanks to its modular design, the optical tube detaches easily from the mount, making it easy to transport and store.

Surprisingly powerful optics in a small package

With its 100 mm parabolic primary mirror, this telescope isn't just cute: it's high-performance. It offers high contrast to explore nebulae, star clusters, distant galaxies, and even planetary details such as the Cassini division in Saturn's rings. Moving it is intuitive: a simple press of the hand is all it takes to rotate the instrument along both axes.

Rare installation flexibility

The Skywatcher 100P is not limited to its Dobson base. It incorporates a standard photo thread 3/8" for easy mounting on a photo tripod. Even better: its tube is equipped with a dovetail type GP/EQ5This makes it compatible with equatorial frames such as the EQ3 or EQ5.

An ideal companion for nomadic observation

Its intuitive design, great versatility and optical performance make it a perfect choice for novice astronomers or enthusiasts looking for a backup instrument for night-time escapades.

Recommended applications

  • Travel observation excellent portability and performance
  • Landscape observation good (with image rectifier)
  • Deep sky observation very good for clusters and nebulae

In short, the Skywatcher Heritage-100P is a telescope with astonishing power despite its small size. Easy to use, transport and set up, it's seductive in its simplicity without sacrificing observation quality. A must-have for those curious about the sky in search of freedom.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What can you see with the Sky-Watcher Heritage-100P?

The Moon in detail, the planets (Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings), and, under a dark sky, the brightest clusters and nebulae, such as the Orion Nebula. Its maximum useful magnification is about 200× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often makes it necessary to stay below this limit.

Which eyepieces are included, and what are their magnifications?

Two eyepieces are included: 25 mm and 10 mm. With a focal length of 400 mm, they provide 16× and 40× magnification. To determine the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.

Is it easy to carry?

Yes, it's a lightweight instrument: the tube weighs about 1 kg and the mount about 1.5 kg. The tube and the base can be separated for transport.

Should we aim it at him?

Yes, just like any Newtonian telescope. A quick check every now and then is enough, especially after transporting it. With a collimation laser, it’s quick and easy. At f/4, it’s more demanding: a precise adjustment is clearly visible at high magnifications. The Sky-Watcher Collimation Guide (EN) explains the procedure.

Can we take pictures?

With a smartphone adapter, you can take souvenir photos of the Moon and the planets—but that's all. Deep-sky photography isn't possible: the mount doesn't track the sky's movement.

What's in the box?

100 mm Newtonian telescope, single-arm Dobsonian mount, red-dot finder, 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces, 2× Barlow lens.
