The Sky-Watcher Evostar 150 is a large-aperture achromatic refracting telescope designed to deliver outstanding optical performance for visual observation. The Sky-Watcher Evostar 150 is a classic two-element achromatic refractor, designed to the highest standards of optical and mechanical precision. Its 150 mm diameter and its focal length of 1200 mm (f/8) technology delivers bright, high-contrast images rich in detail. Thanks to its multi-coating (Multi-Coated), light transmission is optimized, guaranteeing clear, faithful observations.
This telescope is particularly well suited to observing the Moonand planetary surfaces and solar system objects. Its optical performance, close to the diffraction limit, enables high magnifications to be used, up to 300x under optimum conditions. The eyepieces supplied (10 mm and 25 mm) offer magnifications of x120 and x48, perfect for getting started right away.
With a light-gathering capacity 56 % compared with a 120 mm model, the Evostar 150 reveals more detail about celestial objects, significantly enhancing the viewing experience.
The frame HEQ5-R PRO SynScan is a robust and precise computerized equatorial mount, designed to support demanding instruments such as the Evostar 150. Equipped with stepper motors on both axes, it enables smooth and precise tracking of celestial objects, essential for astrophotography.
The system Go-To SynScan automatically locates thousands of celestial objects via a built-in database. Simply select a target and the telescope will automatically navigate to it. This feature makes sky exploration much easier, even for novice users.
The mount also features an integrated polar finder mount, enabling precise alignment with the earth's axis of rotation. It is mounted on a sturdy stainless steel tripod of 1.75″, for excellent stability in the field. An external power supply of 12V DC is necessary for its operation.

The Sky-Watcher Evostar 150 is a 150-mm achromatic refractor with a focal length of 1,200 mm (f/8), an ideal visual observation instrument for beginners. It reveals the Moon with exceptional sharpness, Jupiter’s bands and Great Red Spot, Saturn’s Cassini Division, double stars, and the largest deep-sky objects: the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, globular clusters such as M13, and large open clusters.
Yes. Like any telescope, it is collimated at the factory and requires no optical adjustments: just set it up, let the tube sit outside for a few minutes, and start observing. The enclosed tube stays clean, and maintenance is minimal. Once aligned with two or three stars, the GoTo mount points to and tracks objects for you.
For a comparable diameter, an achromatic telescope is generally less expensive than a Maksutov, warms up faster, and has no central obstruction, which preserves contrast. The Maksutov is more compact for a longer focal length; the refractor, with its 1,200 mm focal length, remains more versatile for observing both planets and large deep-sky objects.
Included eyepieces: 25 mm (48×) and 10 mm (120×). The magnification is calculated by dividing the telescope’s focal length (1200 mm) by that of the eyepiece. To explore the Moon and the planets in greater detail, a 5-mm eyepiece (240×) is a good addition to the kit; the maximum useful magnification is around 300×.
That’s not what it’s designed for. The achromatic objective lens leaves a purple halo around stars and bright objects: in astrophotography, this flaw is very noticeable. For deep-sky photography, an apochromatic telescope is the right tool. The Sky-Watcher Evostar 150 remains, above all, an excellent observational instrument. The only somewhat specialized exception is that a large achromatic refractor like this one can be used with a DayStar Quark filter to observe and photograph the Sun in H-alpha, with a suitable energy-rejection filter (ERF) attached to the front.
Astrophotography load capacity: 15 kg. With this telescope tube, this margin ensures a stable image even at high magnifications. The HEQ5-R Pro is motorized on both axes, featuring GoTo SynScan, Wi-Fi control via smartphone, and an ST-4 autoguiding port: it points to and tracks objects for you. If you decide to take up astrophotography later on, it can accommodate a dedicated apochromatic refractor.
No. The HEQ5-R Pro SynScan mount does not come with a power supply. It requires 9 to 12.6 V DC, 3 A. For home use, we recommend the'Pegasus Astro 12 V 10 A power supply (2.1 mm plug) : regulated voltage, high current reserve, and it can later power a hub for the camera and the anti-fog resistors.
