Sky-Watcher Dobson 153/1200 telescope - Performance and simplicity

This Sky-Watcher Skyliner-150P offers an exceptional diameter/price ratio. Ideal for observing the Moon, planets and deep-sky objects such as galaxies and nebulae, it combines ease of use with impressive optical quality.

NEW : Now comes with two wide-angle eyepieces—12.5 mm and 20 mm (70° field of view)— a 1.25″ adapter with a brass clamping ring (scratch-resistant) and a universal smartphone adapter—perfect for easily capturing your first astronomical images!

A stable, intuitive Dobson mount

Inspired by John Dobson's concepts, this simple azimuth mount allows smooth, natural handling by hand. There's no need for complicated adjustments: just point the tube in the desired direction, and the telescope stays in place thanks to precise balance and friction-optimized materials. Set-up is quick and observation can begin in minutes.

High-quality parabolic optics

Unlike inexpensive spherical mirrors, this telescope incorporates a primary mirror. parabolic of superior quality. This corrects spherical aberrations and delivers sharp, high-contrast images rich in detail - whether on Saturn or a distant galaxy.

Why choose this Dobson telescope?

  • Excellent value for money for beginners or advanced astronomers
  • Stable, intuitive and quick to set up
  • High-precision parabolic optics for sharp images
  • Smartphone adapter included for immortalizing your observations
  • Complete accessories: wide-angle eyepieces, finder, photo adapter

In a nutshell

This Dobson 153/1200 telescope is an ideal choice for those who want a versatile, easy-to-use, high-performance instrument. Whether you're a curious beginner or a passionate amateur, it will faithfully accompany you on your lunar, planetary and celestial explorations.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What can you see with the Sky-Watcher Skyliner-150P?

The Moon in detail, the planets (Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings), and, under a dark sky, the brightest clusters and nebulae, such as the Orion Nebula. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 306× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often makes it necessary to stay below this limit.

Which eyepieces are included, and what are their magnifications?

Two eyepieces are included: 20 mm and 12.5 mm. With a focal length of 1,200 mm, they provide 60× and 96× magnification. To determine the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.

Is it easy to carry?

It can still be transported by car: the tube weighs about 6 kg and the mount about 12 kg. The tube and the base can be separated for transport.

Should we aim it at him?

Yes, just like any Newtonian telescope. A quick check every now and then is enough, especially after transporting it. With a collimation laser, it’s quick and easy. At f/7.8, it’s fairly forgiving: a slight misalignment is hardly noticeable. The Sky-Watcher Collimation Guide (EN) explains the procedure.

Can we take pictures?

The included smartphone adapter lets you take souvenir photos of the Moon and the planets—but that's all. Deep-sky photography isn't possible: the mount doesn't track the sky's movement.

What's in the box?

153 mm Newtonian optical tube, Dobsonian mount with accessory tray, 2″ and 1.25″ eyepiece holders, direct mount for digital SLR cameras, 6×30 angled finder scope, 12.5 mm and 20 mm eyepieces, smartphone adapter.
