Sky-Watcher SKYMAX-150 Fusion-120i WiFi Go-To telescope: freedom, power and wireless control

The Sky-Watcher SKYMAX-150 Fusion-120i is a modern, high-performance solution for astronomers who want to combine optical power, ease of use and wireless control. Thanks to its smart mount with integrated Wi-Fi and its 150 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain tube, this set is ideal for detailed observation of the Moon, planets and double stars.

With its long focal length of 1800 mm (f/12), The SKYMAX-150 is particularly well-suited to high-magnification observations. It offers a magnification of x64 with the supplied eyepiece and can reach up to x450 conditions, enabling precise exploration of the lunar craters, Saturn's rings or Jupiter's atmospheric details.

High-resolution Maksutov-Cassegrain optics

The SKYMAX-150 optical tube is based on an innovative Maksutov-Cassegrain, renowned for its exceptional image quality and high contrast. Its closed design limits internal turbulence and effectively protects the optics.

The mirrors are treated Radiant™ Aluminum Quartz (RAQ™), offering up to 94% reflectivity. This treatment guarantees images that are bright, sharp and long-lasting.

Focusing by displacement of the primary mirror enables fine adjustment, essential for taking full advantage of the telescope's high-magnification potential.

Fusion-120i mount: intelligent, wireless control

Visit Fusion-120i WiFi Go-To mount revolutionizes the viewing experience with its integrated Wi-Fi module. It creates its own network, allowing the telescope to be controlled directly from a smartphone or tablet via free applications SynScan or SynScan PRO (iOS and Android).

After a simple alignment procedure, you can explore the sky via an intuitive interface and access a vast database of celestial objects. The mount can also be controlled via Bluetooth or with the SynScan racket included, integrating over 42,900 items from the Messier, NGC and IC catalogs.

The SynScan application offers many advanced features such as :

  • Tonight's Best« sky tour
  • Point and Go« tactile pointing
  • Identifying celestial objects
  • Simplified alignment (1 star, 3 stars, bright star, North level)
  • Improved pointing accuracy (PAE)

A versatile, portable frame

Fusion-120i is a Single-arm Alt-Azimuthale with a load capacity of 12 kg, perfectly adapted to the SKYMAX-150. It accepts dovetails from 45 mm and 75 mm thanks to its double fastening system.

Easy to transport thanks to its integrated handle, It is ideal for mobile astronomers. Its power supply is flexible: it can operate with a rechargeable internal lithium-ion battery offering up to 10 hours of autonomy, or via an external power supply 12V DC.

For users wishing to move on to astrophotography, a special equatorial hold (optional) converts the mount to equatorial mode.

Viewing comfort and stability

The telescope is supplied with a 2” 28 mm eyepiecea 2” (50.8 mm) angled return and a 9×50 optical finder, for a comfortable, precise viewing experience.

The tripod in stainless steel with accessory tray ensures excellent stability, essential for high-magnification observations.

Why choose the SKYMAX-150 Fusion-120i?

The Sky-Watcher SKYMAX-150 Fusion-120i is a modern and versatile telescope, perfect for astronomers who want to get the most out of their telescope. a simple, connected, high-performance experience. Its combination of powerful optics, smart frame and great portability makes it an excellent choice for exploring the sky in total freedom, whether you're an advanced beginner or an experienced user.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What can you see with the Sky-Watcher Skymax-150?

The Moon in great detail, the planets (Jupiter’s bands, Saturn’s rings, Venus’s phases), and double stars: its long focal length naturally provides high magnification. Its 150-mm diameter also allows for viewing some bright clusters and nebulae. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 300× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often limits observation to lower magnifications.

Which eyepieces are included, and what are their magnifications?

Included eyepiece: 28 mm. With a focal length of 1,800 mm, it provides 64× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.

Is it easy to carry?

It can still be transported by car: the tube weighs about 5.3 kg and the mount about 8 kg.

Should we aim it at him?

No, practically never: a Maksutov's optics are factory-adjusted and remain stable, which is one of its major advantages for beginners. To check, a star test is all it takes: point the telescope at a bright star, defocus it slightly, and the rings should be perfectly concentric.

Can we take pictures?

The motorized mount tracks objects: it’s ideal for filming the Moon and the planets with a smartphone or a small planetary camera, and the planets already appear large thanks to the 1,800 mm focal length. Long exposures of the deep sky remain limited, since an azimuth mount rotates the field of view.

What's in the box?

Fusion mount with tripod, 150 mm Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope, 9×50 finder scope, 2″ right-angle mirror with eyepiece adapters, 28 mm LET 2″ eyepiece.

Does the Sky-Watcher SKYMAX-150 Fusion-120i come with a power supply?

Yes, it has a battery: the Sky-Watcher Fusion-120i mount includes a 9.6 V Li-ion battery. However, an external power supply (12 to 15 V DC, 3 A) is not included; for home use, we recommend the'Pegasus Astro 12 V 10 A power supply with a 5.5 × 2.1 mm plug.
