With the StarSense Explorer 6″, Celestron makes skywatching accessible to everyone.
You don't need to know the constellations or how to set up a telescope:
your smartphone does all the work.
Simply place the telescope in position, and install your phone in the StarSense dock,
launch the application, choose a target... and follow the arrows on the screen.
Your smartphone's camera scans the sky in real time and tells you exactly how to aim the telescope.
When the crosshairs turn green, the object is centered: look through the eyepiece, and enjoy!
The telescope uses 150 mm (6″) Schmidt-Cassegrain,
ideal for high-contrast images of the Moon, planets and star clusters
and brilliant nebulae. With a focal length of 1,500 mm, it provides
beautiful magnifications while remaining compact and easy to carry.
The StarSense system instantly opens up hundreds of celestial objects,
even if you're a first-time observer. From an urban sky, you'll already see most of the
bright targets. Under dark skies, you'll have access to fainter galaxies and nebulae.
The StarSense Explorer app makes stargazing intuitive:
This unique system makes it possible to find much faster
than with a conventional telescope. without any prior knowledge.
Everything is included to get you started immediately:
The StarSense Explorer 6″ is a powerful yet incredibly simple telescope,
perfect for beginners who want a serious, versatile instrument that's easy to learn.
The Moon in detail, the planets (Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings), and, under a dark sky, the brightest star clusters and nebulae, such as the Orion Nebula. Its maximum useful magnification is about 300× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often makes it necessary to stay below this limit.
Two eyepieces are included: 40 mm and 10 mm. With a focal length of 1,500 mm, they provide 38× and 150× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.
The tube weighs about 4.54 kg and is about 40.6 cm long, and the tripod weighs about 1.7 kg.
Rarely. The optics are adjusted at the factory; from time to time, a star test is sufficient: point the telescope at a bright star, defocus it slightly, and the rings should be perfectly concentric. If necessary, adjustments can be made using the screws on the secondary mirror.
The included smartphone adapter lets you take souvenir photos of the Moon and the planets—but that's all. Deep-sky photography isn't possible: the mount doesn't track the sky's movement.
Optical tube, mount, and tripod (pre-assembled), 40 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, right-angle erecting prism, StarPointer red-dot finder, accessory plate, StarSense Explorer smartphone mount.
