The TS-Optics 12″ GSO Ritchey-Chrétien (304 mm, 2432 mm, f/8) with truss carbon tube is designed for astrophotographers who demand professional results. With its large diameter, quartz mirrors with 94 % reflectivity and robust mechanics, it combines optical power and mechanical stability, ideal for sensors up to full format and beyond.
The 12″ RC provides a field corrected up to approximately 35 mm diagonal without a corrector, making it ideal for sensors APS-C. For the full format and beyond (60 mm max. with corrector), TS offers the right optical solutions. With the CCD47 reducer 0.67×the focal length drops to ≈1629 mm and the f/8 ratio increases to f/5,36which halves exposure times and widens the field of view for large objects.
Unlike aluminum, carbon limits focus variations due to temperature changes. The design truss ensures rapid ventilation and mechanical rigidity to maintain collimation, whatever the position of the tube. Result: less refocusing, more consistency in your night-time acquisitions.
A robust evolution of the Crayford RAP Monorail 3″ rests on a solid steel rail rather than on small balls, eliminating tilt even under heavy load. It features a 50 mm stroke, a clear 68 mm aperture, a 1:10 microfocuser for precise adjustments, 360° rotation and threads (M68x1, M74x0.75, M77x0.75) for secure mounting of accessories such as correctors, OAGs and heavy cameras.
The TS-Optics GSO 12-inch RC Pro Carbon Truss is the tool for the demanding astrophotographer: generous diameter, stability thanks to carbon + quartz, robust mechanics, optimized baffles and high-end focuser. A solution ready to rival professional standards for deep, sharp and bright images.
With an aperture of 304 mm at f/8 and a focal length of 2,432 mm, it is primarily an astrophotography telescope: When used with a camera, it is designed to photograph small objects—galaxies, planetary nebulae, and globular clusters—which it displays in great detail.
It can still be transported by car: the tube weighs about 24 kg and is about 85 cm long.
Yes, from time to time: a Ritchey-Chrétien telescope requires precise alignment of its two mirrors, especially after being transported. A collimation tool for a Ritchey-Chrétien telescope makes it easier to adjust, and you can then fine-tune it using a star.
Yes, that's what it's designed for: it mounts on a motorized equatorial mount (not included) with an astro camera or a regular camera. At f/8 and a focal length of 2432 mm, it requires precise tracking: be sure to use autoguiding for long exposures. With a tube weighing approximately 24 kg (without accessories), choose a mount with a load capacity that leaves some margin.
304/2432 mm Ritchey-Chrétien optical tube (carbon fiber lattice), 3″ dual-speed 1:10 eyepiece holder, 2″ and 1.25″ reducers, 2 Losmandy dovetails, 3 M117 extensions (2 × GSRCV1172, 1 × GSRCV1175).
Here are a few accessories we've selected for this model, depending on your needs.
