The TS-Optics GSO 14-inch Ritchey-Chrétien (355 mm, 2,845 mm, f/8) with carbon truss tube and improved Gen.2 focuser is a powerful instrument for demanding observatories and astrophotographers. Its large diameter, optimized mechanics and exceptional stability make it a top-of-the-range solution for deep-sky imaging.
The 14″ RC covers a corrected field of approximately 35 mm without a corrector, ideal up to APS-C. For the full format and beyond (~70 mm max. with dedicated corrector), TS offers optimized solutions. Thanks to the CCD47 reducer 0.67×, the focal length changes from 2,845 mm to ≈1,906 mm, and the ratio of f/8 to f/5.36This has halved exposure times and widened the field of view.
Carbon virtually eliminates focus drift due to thermal variations. The design truss lightens the assembly, promotes cooling and maintains collimation in all orientations. The 30 kg tube is compatible with compact domes thanks to its limited length (~1 m).
The RAP 3″ Gen. 2 significantly improves rigidity and precision: steel rail with bearings, gear rack (1:10), 360° rotation, high load capacity. Multiple integrated threads (M69, M74, M77, M82) for adapters, correctors and OAGs. Compatible with EAF-type focus motors without adapters.
The TS-Optics GSO 14″ RC Pro Carbon Truss Gen. 2 is designed for private or community observatories: 355 mm diameter, reinforced mechanics, tilt-adjustable focuser, thermal stability and corrected wide field. A robust, scalable platform for professional-level results in advanced astrophotography.
With an open aperture of 355 mm at f/8 and a focal length of 2,845 mm, it is primarily an astrophotography telescope: when used with a camera, it is designed to photograph small objects—galaxies, planetary nebulae, and globular clusters—which it displays in great detail.
It is an imposing instrument: the tube weighs about 30 kg and is about 114 cm long.
Yes, from time to time: a Ritchey-Chrétien telescope requires precise alignment of its two mirrors, especially after being transported. A collimation tool for a Ritchey-Chrétien telescope makes it easier to adjust, and you can then fine-tune it using a star.
Yes, that's what it's designed for: it mounts on a motorized equatorial mount (not included) with an astro camera or a regular camera. At f/8 and a focal length of 2845 mm, it requires precise tracking: be sure to use autoguiding for long exposures. With a tube weighing about 30 kg (without accessories), choose a mount with a load capacity that leaves some margin.
Here are a few accessories we've selected for this model, depending on your needs.
