The LS80MT Standard Kit marks Lunt's entry into large-diameter H-Alpha solar observation. With its 80 mm aperture and Pressure-Tuned Doppler True system, this telescope reveals a level of detail and contrast unattainable with smaller-diameter instruments.
Designed as a truly universal day and night system, the LS80MT functions both as a high-performance H-Alpha solar telescope and as an 80 mm f/7 refractor for night-time observation.
Its 560mm f/7 doublet lens, B1200 blocking filter and dual-speed 10:1 eyepiece holder offer a versatile platform that's as good at visuals as it is at imaging.
With its 80 mm opening, the LS80MT collects :
This increase in aperture immediately improves :
The protuberances reveal internal filaments, nodes and flow structures impossible to distinguish on smaller instruments.
The LS80MT uses an internal Pressure-Tuned Doppler True Barometric standard offering a verified bandwidth of 0.45 Å.
Pressure adjustment allows :
By adjusting the pressure :
This technology makes it possible to explore different depths of the H-Alpha line with great precision.
The LS80MT Standard reveals the full dynamics of the chromosphere:
The included 19 mm Flat-Field eyepiece provides 29x magnification, perfect for full-disc views and protuberance surveys.
The LS80MT is also a high-performance nocturnal astronomy instrument.
After removal of the solar module :
The LS80MT combines advanced solar observation and classical astronomy in a single instrument.
The LS80MT Standard incorporates a Rack & Pinion 2″ double-speed eyepiece holder with 10:1 reduction:
The integrated solar handle system with red dot finder greatly simplifies transport and installation.
The finder remains aligned at all times for fast, safe pointing at the Sun.
Like all 80 mm Lunt systems, the LS80MT Standard is compatible with the optional SFPT Double Stack module.
The addition of the module reduces the combined bandwidth to less than 0.28 Å, greatly increasing the contrast of chromospheric details.
