Today, Askar is proud to present the FRA300 Pro, the smallest Petzval astrograph in the series, with a 60 mm aperture and an ultra-fast focal ratio of f/5. This model, equipped with a 300 mm focal length, stands out for its compactness and image quality, making it an ideal choice for demanding field photographers and astrophotographers.

Clearly Defined Images for Astronomy Enthusiasts

The Askar FRA300 Pro guarantees exceptionally sharp images. At the center of its field of view, the RMS radius reaches an accuracy of 2 µm, for perfectly defined stars. Thanks to its native Petzval design, it offers a 44 mm image circle, ideal for full format, and maintains excellent peripheral light reduction. Unlike conventional models, the FRA300 Pro astrograph eliminates the need to calculate backfocus: focus remains optimal across a wide range of positions.

Advanced Optical Design

The FRA300 Pro features a fully air-spaced quintuplet lens, including an ED glass lens to eliminate chromatic aberrations and improve star quality across the entire field. This multi-coated optical system effectively eliminates stray light, delivering sharper, higher-contrast images. The rear lens group, composed of two spaced refractive elements, enhances star quality and controls peripheral light reduction to an exceptional degree.

High-Precision Mechanical Design

Every component of the Askar FRA300 Pro is precision CNC-machined and features a smooth, oxidation-resistant coating, for a product that is both aesthetically pleasing and durable. The design of the clamp is light and elegant, ensuring optimum maneuverability without compromising stability. This model also features a 2.5" rack-and-pinion eyepiece holder with precise focusing thanks to dual-speed adjustment knobs and a fine adjustment knob, as well as an M48x0.75 universal adapter. For maximum flexibility, the standard kit includes M54x0.75 and M48x0.75 adapters, facilitating connection with a wide range of imaging equipment.

The eyepiece holder is also equipped with a 360° rotator, allowing users to easily adjust the angle of view for added convenience during imaging sessions.

Stability and versatility in the field

The FRA300 Pro is supplied with a multifunction handle and a 300 mm Vixen-style dovetail plate, ideal for direct connection to various mounts and accessories. The 300 mm plate ensures perfect balance of the astrograph on the mount, even with heavy equipment.
