Visit Sky-Watcher Evostar 80EDX is an 80 mm apochromatic doublet refractor designed to deliver exceptional image quality for both visual observation and astrophotography. This EDX model, a direct evolution of the famous Evostar 80ED, benefits from significant mechanical improvements, while retaining the premium f/7.5 optics based on FPL-53 glass, renowned for its sharpness and contrast. Compact, lightweight and robust, it's an excellent choice for demanding astronomers looking for a reliable, high-performance instrument.
At the heart of the Evostar 80EDX is a doublet lens featuring Japanese Ohara FPL-53 ED glass, which almost totally reduces chromatic aberrations. Each air-glass surface is treated with the exclusive MHTC (Metallic High-Transmission Coating) allowing light transmission of up to 99.5 %.
The result? Perfectly punctual stars against a deep black sky background, ideal for photographing nebulae, star clusters or galaxies, but also for high-precision planetary observation.
This model now includes a focuser Crayford 2.8" dual-speed 11:1 with graduated scale and 360° rotating ring, perfect for astrophotography framing. The sliding, removable mist screenIts sturdy carrying handles and sturdy anodized aluminum tube make it easy to install, transport and use in the field.
Thanks to its doublet design and reduced weight of just 4 kg, the Evostar 80EDX is easy to mount on lightweight frames, while retaining excellent stability. It is compatible with focal reducer/field corrector 0.85x (ref. 20236, optional) for a wider field of view in wide-field photography.
