A fluid, robust Dobson mount

The principle behind the Dobson mount is simple: smooth, intuitive azimuth movement, without motors or electronics. The whole unit is designed to easily follow a celestial object with the hand, while remaining perfectly stable. Set-up takes just a few minutes.

High-end optics for the deep sky and planets

The primary mirror parabolic treated RAQ™ offers up to 94 % of reflectivity. This enables faithful reproduction of detail, with excellent brightness. Thanks to its 254 mm diameter, this telescope collects 56 % more light than a 200 mm - a real difference on faint objects.

Examples of observations (classic targets)

  • M42 - Great Orion Nebula The sky: very spectacular, with a beautiful sense of relief. Under urban skies, you can sometimes make out a slight hint of color, depending on the conditions.

  • M57 - Ring Nebula : withstands very high magnifications, around x250, while maintaining a clean image.

  • Sagittarius (Lagoon, Trifid, etc.) Nebulae: bright, detailed nebulae when well positioned in the sky.

  • M27 - Dumbbell Nebula : very bright, easy to spot and particularly rewarding.

  • Planets all the major planets are accessible and offer rich observations (depending on turbulence and height on the horizon).

  • M13 - Hercules globular cluster : handles magnification very well (~x250) and reveals superb granulation.

How far the instrument can go (good sky + optimal conditions)

  • Double-double de la Lyre Separation without difficulty at x250 with careful collimation.

  • M51 - Whirlpool Galaxy The spiral arms start to appear when the sky is quite dark.

  • Dentelles du Cygne (without filter) visible, but very delicate - a typical example of an object that rewards excellent skies.

  • M31 - Andromeda The dust band can appear in good conditions.

  • Jupiter : possible observation of key events such as the eclipses/satellite occultations.

  • Saturn by exceptional seeing, we can go as far as x500 and achieve an impressive level of detail.
