The Uranus-C PRO, developed by Player One Astronomy, is a high-performance cooled color camera designed for deep-sky imaging (DSO), as well as solar, lunar and planetary observation. Equipped with a Sony IMX585 CMOS sensor, it boasts advanced technology and an ergonomic design.
Main technical data
- Sony IMX585 CMOS sensor: This 1/1.2" (11.2 mm x 6.3 mm) color sensor offers 8.3-megapixel resolution (3856 x 2180 pixels) with a diagonal measurement of 12.85 mm. A pixel size of 2.9 µm guarantees high sensitivity and excellent detail reproduction.
- Full Well: With a maximum capacity of 47 ke, almost three times that of previous IMX485-based models (13 ke), the camera captures high-dynamic images without saturation.
- Wide dynamic range: Ideal for capturing subtle nuances in both dark and bright areas.
- Advanced Peltier Cooling (TEC): The two-stage cooling system allows a delta T of 35-40°C below ambient temperature, effectively reducing thermal noise for long exposures.
- Ultra-low playback noise: in HCG (High Conversion Gain) mode, activated at a gain of 210, noise drops to just 0.7 e-, guaranteeing sharp images even in low-light conditions.
Imaging performance
- Fast acquisition rate: The camera can capture up to 47 FPS in RAW8 mode at full resolution, making it ideal for applications requiring high frame rates.
- Non-Amp-Glow: The Uranus-C PRO is totally amp-glow-free, guaranteeing a clean background and making it easier to obtain high-quality images, even with prolonged exposures.
- STARVIS 2 technology: uses backlit architecture to maximize light sensitivity while minimizing noise.
Technological advances
- Reduced Dark Current : At -20°C, dark current is limited to just 0.0004 e-/s/pixel, guaranteeing outstanding image quality even with long exposures.
- Native 12-bit ADC: enables fine gradation with up to 4096 brightness levels per pixel for images rich in detail.
- Integrated anti-fogging: a heating system prevents condensation on the sensor during long imaging sessions.
- Integrated DDR3 cache memory (512 MB): Stabilizes data transmission and reduces playback noise while avoiding image loss.
Ergonomic design
The innovative design of the Uranus-C PRO includes :
- A lightweight (420 g) and robust round carbon-fiber case, optimized to reduce weight while maintaining excellent heat dissipation.
- An adjustable anti-tilt plate allows precise adjustment of the sensor's parallelism to ensure perfect field flatness.
- An iconic red and black finish combining aesthetics and functionality.
Applications
The Uranus-C PRO is ideal for :
- Deep sky imaging (nebulae, galaxies).
- Solar and lunar observation thanks to a sensor capable of easily capturing the complete discs of the Sun or Moon with short focal length refractors.
- Planetary imaging with high FPS to capture the fine details of planets.
- Efficient creation of mosaics thanks to its square-format sensor.
With its high-end features and advanced technological innovations, the Uranus-C PRO is the obvious choice for astrophotographers seeking to push back the boundaries of celestial imaging.
