Dobson Celestron StarSense Explorer 130mm

Discover a new way of observing the universe with the Celestron StarSense Explorer 130mm, an innovative telescope that uses your smartphone to analyze the sky in real time. Easy to use, compact and powerful, it's perfect for beginners and astronomy enthusiasts wishing to explore the celestial wonders.

Revolutionary technology: StarSense Sky Recognition

  • LISA (Lost in Space Algorithm) : Use spatial navigation techniques to identify visible stars and orient the telescope.
  • Intuitive interface : Arrows appear on your screen to guide the telescope. When the reticle turns green, the object is centered and ready to be observed.
  • Application Powered by SkySafari™ : Offers a selection of the best visible celestial objects according to your location and the time of day.

Compact, Portable Design

  • Lightweight, compact base : Perfect for travel and installation on a table or stable surface such as the hood of a car.
  • Fluid movements : Teflon bearings and a high-altitude brake system guarantee precise, smooth adjustments.
  • Optimum ergonomics : Easily adjust tube position for ideal viewing comfort.

Superior quality optics

  • 130 mm (5.1") parabolic primary mirror : Bright, detailed views.
  • Planetary observation : See Jupiter's moons, its cloud bands and the Great Red Spot, as well as Saturn's rings.
  • Deep sky objects : See the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Pleiades Cluster and much more.
  • Moon observation : Explore the Moon's craters and mountains with remarkable clarity.

An Ideal Telescope for the City and the Dark Skies

Even in an urban environment, the tabletop StarSense Explorer 130mm Dobson can easily spot the brightest celestial objects. Under slightly darker skies, it reveals hundreds of other fascinating targets, offering a rewarding experience wherever you observe.

Ease of use and accessories included

  • StarSense smartphone holder : Easily connect your phone.
  • Two Kellner eyepieces (25 mm and 10 mm): Vary your magnifications for detailed observations.
  • StarPointer™ red dot finder: Simplifies centering of celestial objects.
  • Collimation cap : Keeps your optics aligned.
  • Integrated eyepiece holder : Keep your accessories close at hand.

Intelligent Technology and Compatibility

  • Extended compatibility : Works with most modern smartphones, including iPhone 6 and later versions, as well as Android 7.1.2 and newer devices.
  • Access to descriptions and educational audio : Learn more about each object you observe.

Explore Longer

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What can you see with the Celestron StarSense Explorer 130?

The Moon in detail, the planets (Jupiter’s bands and moons, Saturn’s rings), and, under a dark sky, the brightest star clusters and nebulae, such as the Orion Nebula. Its maximum useful magnification is approximately 260× (2 × the diameter in mm); in practice, atmospheric turbulence often makes it necessary to stay below this limit.

Which eyepieces are included, and what are their magnifications?

Two eyepieces are included: 25 mm and 10 mm. With a focal length of 650 mm, they provide 26× and 65× magnification. To calculate the magnification of an eyepiece, divide the telescope's focal length by the eyepiece's focal length.

Is it easy to carry?

It can still be transported by car: the tube weighs about 3.72 kg and is about 61.6 cm long, and the mount weighs about 4.99 kg. The tube and the base can be separated for transport.

Should we aim it at him?

Yes, just like any Newtonian telescope. A quick check every now and then is enough, especially after transporting it. With a collimation laser, it’s quick and easy. At f/5, it’s more demanding: precise alignment is clearly visible at high magnifications.

Can we take pictures?

The included smartphone adapter lets you take souvenir photos of the Moon and the planets—but that's all. Deep-sky photography isn't possible: the mount doesn't track the sky's movement.

What's in the box?

Optical tube, Dobsonian mount, 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces, StarPointer red-dot finder, StarSense Explorer smartphone mount, StarSense Explorer app unlock code, eyepiece holder, collimation cap, Celestron Starry Night Basic Edition software.
