Visit Wanderer FilterCube 2″/50 mm is a 5-position motorized filter wheel specifically designed for primary-focus telescopes, particularly systems Celestron RASA 11 and RASA 36. Thanks to its compact design and patented side-tilt filter system, it allows you to use multiple filters without causing optical obstruction, while maintaining a rigid, precise mechanism that is perfectly suited for fast astrophotography.
The FilterCube features 5 filter positions : four tilting side positions and one position dedicated to the Luminance filter. This unique design significantly reduces the mechanical footprint while offering true versatility for color, narrowband, or LRGB imaging.
He accepts the 2-inch mounted filters as well as the 50 mm filters (unmounted), making it compatible with demanding astrophotography setups that use large sensors.
With an outer diameter of just 114 mm, the Wanderer FilterCube is designed to produce no no optical obstruction when installed on systems RASA 11 and RASA 36. This is a major advantage for preserving image quality, contrast, and the shape of the stars across the entire field of view.
Important information: The FilterCube is not compatible with HyperStar systems.
With an optical thickness of 60.3 mm, the Wanderer FilterCube meets the backfocus requirements of the RASA 11 when used with cameras that have a backfocus of 12.5 mm, without an additional adapter.
For RASA 36 systems, the FilterCube can be used with cameras that have a backfocus of less than 17.5 mm, with the appropriate WandererAstro adapters. In particular, it is compatible with certain Moravian C1x cameras.
The FilterCube features a Manual camera rotator (CAA) as well as a 3-point rear tilt adjustment. These features allow you to precisely adjust the sensor’s orientation and the field flatness—two essential factors for achieving sharp stars all the way to the corners with a very wide-open optical system.
A special access opening also allows for collimation even when the FilterCube is installed on the telescope.
After extensive field testing, WandererAstro has optimized the internal geometry of the FilterCube to minimize stray reflections, ghost images, halos, color artifacts, and difficulties with flat-field calibration. This design is particularly beneficial for RASA systems, which are known to be susceptible to internal reflections due to their extremely short focal ratio.
The body of the Wanderer FilterCube is made of high-strength aluminum alloy with certain components made of carbon fiber. Despite its sturdiness, it weighs only 385 grams, thereby limiting the mechanical stress on the front of the instrument.
Compatible with drivers ASCOM, the FilterCube can be controlled from most modern astrophotography software programs. Multiple units can be connected simultaneously to a single computer and controlled individually, making it particularly well-suited for automated observatories, sky-surveillance systems, or professional setups using multiple telescopes.
Deep Space Astronomy sells only the updated version of the Wanderer FilterCube. As part of the official improvement program launched by WandererAstro, the mounting system for the removable rear hood has been reinforced to improve locking security and reduce the risks associated with improper installation.
All units offered by Deep Space Astronomy come with this version, which has been updated directly by the manufacturer. This means you benefit from the latest product updates without having to make any modifications or participate in the upgrade program.
This improvement does not affect the FilterCube’s optical performance, which remains excellent, but it provides an additional level of mechanical security that is particularly valuable in high-end astrophotography setups using expensive cameras and accessories.
When you order your Wanderer FilterCube from Deep Space Astronomy, you can be sure you'll receive the latest and most advanced version available today.
