The Ares-C PRO camera from Player One Astronomy

Visit Ares-C PROdeveloped by Player One Astronomyis a high-performance, cooled color camera designed for advanced deep-sky imaging (DSO) as well as solar and lunar observation. Equipped with the Sony IMX533 CMOS sensor in 1" square format, this camera offers an exceptional combination of sensitivity, precision and advanced features.

Main technical data

  • Sony IMX533 CMOS sensor 1" square format (11.31 mm x 11.31 mm) color sensor with 9 megapixel resolution (3008 x 3008 pixels) and 16 mm diagonal. The 3.76 µm pixel size guarantees high sensitivity and precise reproduction of details.
  • Full Well depth With an impressive 73 ke capacity, 1.5 times greater than that of standard models equipped with the same sensor, the camera captures high-dynamic images without saturation.
  • Wide dynamic range Up to 13 stops, ideal for capturing subtle nuances in both dark and bright areas.
  • Advanced Peltier Cooling (TEC) The two-stage cooling system allows a delta T of 35-40°C below ambient temperature, effectively reducing thermal noise for long exposures.
  • Ultra-low reading noise In HCG (High Conversion Gain) mode, activated at a gain of 125, noise drops to just 1 e-, guaranteeing sharp images even in low-light conditions.

Imaging performance

  • Fast acquisition rate The camera can reach up to 43 FPS in RAW8 mode, making it ideal for planetary or solar imaging requiring high frame rates.
  • Dual sampling modes :
    • Normal mode Optimized for capturing planetary images at high FPS.
    • LRN (Low Read Noise) mode Reduces playback noise while increasing dynamic range, perfect for deep-sky imaging.
  • Non-Amp-Glow The Ares-C PRO is totally amp-glow-free, guaranteeing a clean background and making it easier to obtain high-quality images, even during long exposures.

Technological advances

  • Backlit STARVIS technology Maximizes light sensitivity while minimizing noise for optimum performance in low-light conditions.
  • 14-bit native ADC Fine gradation with up to 16,384 brightness levels per pixel, offering smooth transitions between light and dark areas for images rich in detail.
  • Integrated anti-fog A heating system prevents condensation on the sensor during long imaging sessions.
  • Integrated DDR3 cache memory (512 MB) USB 2.0: Stabilizes data transmission, reduces playback noise and prevents image loss, even with a USB 2.0 port.

Ergonomic design

The innovative design of the Ares-C PRO includes :

  • A round carbon-fiber caseLightweight (420 g) and robust, optimized to reduce weight while maintaining excellent thermal dissipation.
  • Four-point adjustable anti-tilt plate for precise adjustment of sensor parallelism to guarantee perfect field flatness.
  • Iconic red and black finish combining aesthetics and functionality.

Applications

Visit Ares-C PRO is ideal for :

  • Deep sky imaging (nebulae, galaxies).
  • Solar and lunar observation thanks to its square sensor, which makes it easy to capture complete discs of the Sun or Moon with short-focus refractors.
  • Efficient mosaic creation thanks to its practical square format.

Additional highlights

  • Compatible with software such as SharpCap Pro for precise control of parameters (fan, cooling, gain).
  • USB-C and USB3.0 ports for fast, reliable connectivity.
  • Elegant design with iconic red and black finish.

With its high-end features and advanced technological innovations, the Ares-C PRO is the obvious choice for astrophotographers seeking to push back the limits of celestial imaging on all types of objects.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions
