Lunt LS100MT: 100 mm apochromatic sunglass
The Lunt LS100MT is a versatile, top-of-the-range telescope designed for H-alpha sun observation, as well as for night and terrestrial observation. Featuring apochromatic ED triplet optics in FPL-53 and a modular design, it offers outstanding performance in all its configurations. Available with two blocking filter options, B1800 and B3400, this telescope will meet the needs of both amateur astronomers and professional astrophotographers.
Scientific operation: H-alpha standard and blocking filter
The LS100MT uses a Fabry-Perot etalon system, an advanced optical filter that exploits the wave-like properties of light. This system isolates the H-alpha line (656.28 nm), a specific wavelength emitted by ionized hydrogen, reducing the bandwidth to <0.7 Å. This reveals fascinating details of the solar chromosphere, such as protuberances, filaments and solar flares. The blocking filter (BF) completes this system by eliminating stray wavelengths, guaranteeing clear, safe observation.
Key features
- Opening : 100 mm (without central obstruction).
- Focal length : 714 mm (f/7).
- FPL-53 triplet ED apochromatic optics: Perfect chromatic correction for outstanding image quality.
- H-alpha bandwidth : <0.7 Å (single stack), offering high contrast for observing the Sun's dynamic details.
- Pressure Tuner System : Precise barometric pressure adjustment for optimum contrast.
- Modular design : Remove the H-alpha module to convert the telescope into a conventional refractor for night-time or terrestrial observation.
Blocking filter options : B1800 and B3400
Version B1800
- Advanced visual observation : Enlarged field of view for comfortable observation of the entire solar disk.
- Light to intermediate astrophotography : Compatible with medium-sized sensors.
- Highlights : Excellent compromise between field of view and price, perfect for demanding amateur astronomers.
Version B3400
- Advanced or professional astrophotography : Ultra-wide field of view enables large-format sensors to be used without vignetting.
- Extended visual observation : Ideal for capturing subtle details on the solar disk.
- Highlights : Maximum field of view for sharp images across the entire surface, recommended for users seeking total versatility.
Exceptional versatility
One of the LS100MT's main assets is its modularity. By removing the H-alpha module, this refractor can be used as a conventional apochromatic refractor with a full 100 mm aperture. This enables :
- Night observation : Explore nebulae, galaxies and star clusters thanks to its apochromatic triplet optics in FPL-53.
- White light observation : Add a Herschel prism or a front sun filter to observe sunspots.
- Ground observation : With an optical rectifier, enjoy a clear view when exploring nature or the environment.
Why choose the LS100MT?
- Exceptional solar observation: Fascinating detail thanks to <0.7 Å bandwidth.
- Options to suit your needs :
- The B1800 version is ideal for advanced amateurs wishing to combine visual observation with moderate imaging.
- The B3400 version is ideal for professional astrophotographers seeking a wider field of view without compromising quality.
- Unique versatility : An instrument designed for the Sun as well as for the night sky or the earth.
- Premium optical quality: Triplet ED optics guarantee a sharp, high-contrast image in all configurations.
