Lunt LS130MT: 130 mm apochromatic sunglass
The Lunt LS130MT is a 130 mm apochromatic solar telescope, designed to offer outstanding performance in H-alpha solar observation, yet modular for night-time or terrestrial use. Thanks to its Pressure Tuner system and internal etalon, it captures the fascinating details of the solar chromosphere, such as protuberances, filaments and solar flares. Available with several blocking filter options (B1200, B1800 and B3400), it can be adapted to the needs of amateurs and professional astrophotographers alike.
Scientific operation: Internal standard and blocking filter
The LS130MT uses an internal Fabry-Perot etalon, an advanced optical system that exploits the wave-like properties of light to isolate the H-alpha line (656.28 nm). This etalon is placed inside the optical tube, reducing its size without compromising the amount of light transmitted. Precise adjustment of the bandwidth (<0.7 Å) is ensured by the Pressure Tuner, which adjusts the pressure in a hermetically sealed chamber to compensate for variations due to temperature, altitude or the Doppler effect associated with the Sun's rotation. The blocking filter (BF), integrated into an angled eyepiece, eliminates stray wavelengths and guarantees clear, safe observation.
Key features
- Opening : 130 mm (without central obstruction).
- Focal length : 910 mm (f/7).
- FPL-51 triplet ED apochromatic optics: Perfect chromatic correction for outstanding image quality.
- H-alpha bandwidth : <0.7 Å (single stack), offering high contrast for observing the Sun's dynamic details.
- Pressure Tuner System : Precise adjustment by barometric pressure to optimize contrast according to viewing conditions.
- Modular design : Remove the H-alpha module to convert the telescope into a conventional refractor for night-time or terrestrial observation.
Available versions: B1200, B1800 and B3400
Version B1200
- Advanced visual observation : Field adapted to comfortably observe the entire solar disk.
- Light astrophotography : Compatible with small sensors.
- Specific advantages : A cost-effective solution for amateurs wishing to explore the Sun in detail.
Version B1800
- Extended visual observation : Wider field for a more immersive view of the solar disk.
- Intermediate to advanced astrophotography : Compatible with medium-sized sensors.
- Specific advantages : Best compromise between field of view and versatility.
Version B3400
- Professional astrophotography : Ultra-wide field of view enables large-format sensors to be used without vignetting.
- Maximum visual observation : Ideal for capturing subtle details across the entire solar surface.
- Specific advantages : Maximum field of view for sharp images across the entire surface.
Exceptional versatility
The modularity of the LS130MT makes it a unique instrument. By removing the H-alpha module, this refractor can be used as a conventional apochromatic refractor with a full 130 mm aperture. This enables:
- Night observation : Explore nebulae, galaxies and star clusters with FPL-51 triplet apochromatic optics for chromatic-aberration-free images.
- White light observation : Add a Herschel prism or a front sun filter to observe sunspots.
- Ground observation : With an optical rectifier, enjoy a clear view when exploring nature or the environment.
Additional options
- Double Stack DSII internal : Reduce the bandwidth to <0.5 Å to further enhance contrast and reveal subtle solar details.
- Ca-K (Calcium-K) filter : Allows you to observe other solar structures invisible in H-alpha, such as supergranulation.
Why choose the LS130MT?
