TS-Optics GSO 6″ RC Pro 154/1370 - The little Ritchey-Chrétien who thinks big

Designed for deep-sky astrophotography (galaxies, planetary nebulae) while remaining compact and lightweight, the
TS-Optics GSO 6″ Ritchey-Chrétien (154 mm, 1370 mm, f/9) offers uniform sharpness over a wide field,
stable focus and short cooling times thanks to its open tube.
Its hyperbolic mirrors in fused silica (quartz) with 94 % reflectivity treatment deliver
fine stars and sharp details, without lenses in the optical path.

Highlights to remember

  • Genuine RC : primary and secondary hyperbolic → field naturally coma-free and plan.
  • Quartz glass Very stable focus during temperature variations, ideal for long exposures.
  • Treatment 94 % brighter image than 90 % optics → direct gain on signal.
  • Open tube & internal baffles rapid cooling, enhanced contrast.
  • Generous backfocus (≈159 mm at 2″ casting) Easily integrates correctors, gearboxes, optical dividers, filter wheels, etc.
  • No shifting : primary fixed, developed by Crayford 2″ double speed.
  • Easy integration Vixen dovetail bar, M90 extension rings (50 mm + 2×25 mm) included.

Why choose a 6″ RC over a SCT/Mak?

  • No Schmidt blade less sensitive to fogging, less absorption → more photons to the sensor.
  • Path 100 % reflective The new, more powerful near-infrared technology (without permanent corrective lenses).
  • Design-corrected field Fine stars in the center and in the field, excellent for mosaics and APS-C sensors.
  • Stable focus no moving mirror → no mirror shift when making MAP.

Astrophotography performance

The 6″ RC delivers fine, regular stars with cameras up to APS-C
(without corrector). For larger sensors (full format), the addition of a dedicated RC corrector is recommended.
to optimize field flatness and illumination. 94 % coating and no front glass
enable more effective exhibitions than with permanent blade/corrector systems.

Focus & backfocus: simple and flexible

The home is very affordable: about 159 mm from 2″ runner.
Visit M90 bushings (50 mm + 2×25 mm) are screwed between the focuser and the tube to position
your optical train (angle drive, OAG, filter wheel, camera). Visit Crayford 2″ dual-speed
ensures fine, backlash-free MAP.

Sensors, correctors & reducers

  • No concealer up to ≈30 mm diagonal (typ. APS-C).
  • Full format add a RC field corrector for a perfectly flat, well-lit field.
  • Reducer 0.67× on this f/9 model, you switch to f/6,0 about
    (1370 mm × 0.67 ≈ 918 mm) → shorter exposures, wide field for diffuse nebulae/galaxies.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a corrector? → Up to APS-C, many users shoot without corrector.
On full-frame, a dedicated RC corrector is highly recommended for an impeccable field.

Can it be used for visuals? → Yes. The RC is designed for photography, but visually it offers
very fine stars and enhanced contrast (especially with good eyepieces and a 2″ angled return). On the other hand, planetary photography really isn't its forte, due to its central obstruction.
