Visit Sky-Watcher Startravel 80/400 AZ3 is a versatile, compact telescope, ideal for both novice astronomers and users looking for a lightweight, high-performance instrument. Designed for wide-field observation, it makes it easy to explore deep-sky objects such as nebulae, star clusters, galaxies and stellar fields, while remaining effective for observing the Moon, bright planets and even comets.
Thanks to its short focal length design and excellent aperture ratio, this telescope is also perfectly suited to daytime terrestrial observation, when used with a 1.25″ rectifying prism (not included). Its versatility makes it ideal for astronomy and nature photography.
Equipped with a 80 mm lens and a 400 mm focal length (f/5), The Sky-Watcher 80/400 is a “fast” telescope, offering a wide field of view and excellent brightness. This configuration makes it possible to observe vast areas of the sky with great ease, which is particularly appreciated for extended deep-sky objects.
Its lens benefits from multilayer improving light transmission and image contrast. With a light-gathering capacity 77 % compared with a 60 mm model, It reveals more detail and enables more immersive observations.
The telescope comes with two quality eyepieces Plössl (12.5 mm and 26 mm), with magnifications of x32 and x15.4. An included x2 Barlow lens doubles these magnifications to x64 and x30.8. Maximum useful magnification is up to x160 in good observation conditions.
Thanks to its fast f/5 focal ratio, this telescope is particularly suitable for wide-field astronomical photography. It makes it easy to capture celestial events such as lunar and solar eclipses, as well as spectacular nightscapes.
Visit direct connection for SLR cameras makes it easy to install a housing for shooting. This telescope can also be used as a fixed lens for terrestrial photography, particularly of landscapes and nature, offering great flexibility of use.
The Sky-Watcher 80/400 is fitted with the AZ3 Deluxe Alt-Azimuth, renowned for its ease of use and stability. This intuitive mount provides precise control on the horizontal (azimuth) and vertical (altitude) axes thanks to its slow-motion cables, for easy tracking of celestial objects.
The supplied aluminum tripod is lightweight yet sturdy, and features a practical accessory tray to keep eyepieces and accessories close at hand. This configuration ensures quick set-up and easy transport, ideal for nomadic observations.
The telescope comes with a complete set of accessories for immediate use:
