MaxBright II Binocular
General presentation
The MaxBright II Binokular is an advanced accessory for astronomy enthusiasts who want to observe with both eyes, offering an immersive and comfortable visual experience. It features :
- 27 mm prisms offer a wide field of vision.
- Multilayer coatings for maximum light transmission.
- Innovative ClickLock® system to secure eyepieces.
Main applications
The MaxBright II is designed for :
- Use on a variety of telescopes (refractors, Newton, Schmidt-Cassegrains).
- Correct optical defects such as chromatic aberration with Glaswegkorrektoren (GWK).
- Provide a sharp, bright image even at high magnifications.
Configurations and adaptations
The accessories available allow you to customize the binocular to suit your telescope and objectives:
Glaswegkorrektoren (GWK)
- 1.25x (# 2456314) Optical correction with a 20 mm gain in back-focus.
- 1.7x (# 2456316) 35 mm back-focus gain, suitable for low-aperture telescopes.
- 2.6x (# 2456317) Ideal for very high magnifications with a 65 mm gain in back-focus.
- GWK 2" Newton 1,7x (# 2456300) Specific for Newton telescopes to correct coma aberrations.
Prisms and mirrors T-2
Recommended models for minimizing optical length include :
- T-2 90° with 32 mm prism (# 2456005)
- T-2 BBHS® Zenitspiegel 36mm With BBHS® coating for improved reflectivity.
The MaxBright II can be configured in several ways to suit your telescope and your needs:
- With T-2 prisms or mirrors: Recommended for minimizing optical length and ensuring easy focusing. Use GWK to adjust the optical path.
- With 1.25" or 2" adapters: Handy if the telescope's back-focus is sufficient.
- With telecentric systems (e.g. SunDancer II) : Ideal for planetary observations at high magnifications.
Choice of accessories
- Glaswegkorrektoren (GWK) They correct the aberrations introduced by prisms and extend the focal length. Various correction factors are available (1.25x, 1.7x, 2.6x).
- Zenitspiegel and T-2 prisms Offer different optical lengths and are suitable for various telescopes. Examples: T-2 90° (32 mm), T-2 BBHS® for sharp images.
- Eyepieces Compatible with 1.25" eyepieces. Hyperion® and Morpheus® series are recommended. Identical eyepieces (same manufacturer and model) are essential for a balanced binocular image.
Installation and settings
- Interpupillary distance adjustment : Adapt the binocular to your eye distance for optimum field of view.
- Diopter : Adjust each eye separately to correct focus differences.
- Mounting : Options include direct use of a GWK or integration into a mirror/prism with a T-2 adapter.
Compatibility with various telescopes
The MaxBright II is compatible with :
- Newton: Often requires a specific GWK (1.7x) to compensate for weak back-focus.
- Schmidt-Cassegrains : Can be used without GWK if aperture is greater than f/10.
- Astronomical telescopes : Recommended with T-2 prisms to minimize optical length.
Specific applications
- Solar observation : Combined with the Herschel Prism for exceptional details of the solar surface. Necessary precautions to avoid the risks associated with observing the sun.
- Astrophotography : Specific adapters can be used to connect cameras.
Care and maintenance
- Clean prisms and lenses with suitable products.
- Make sure the adjustment mechanisms (diopter, ClickLock®) are working properly.
Benefits
- The manual offers clear explanations of the basics of optical and mechanical adjustments.
- Pre-designed configurations reduce installation complexity.
- The use of binocular eyepieces enhances comfort for long observation sessions.
