Astrophotography

The 12″ RC delivers a corrected field of view up to approx. 35 mm diagonal without corrector, ideal for sensors APS-C. For the full format and beyond (60 mm max. with corrector), TS offers the right optical solutions. With the CCD47 reducer 0.67×the focal length drops to ≈1629 mm and the f/8 ratio increases to f/5,36which halves exposure times and widens the field of view for large objects.

Why a carbon truss tube?

Unlike aluminum, carbon limits focus variations due to temperature changes. The design truss ensures rapid ventilation and mechanical rigidity to maintain collimation, whatever the position of the tube. Result: less refocusing, more consistency in your night-time acquisitions.

The RAP Monorail 3″ focuser

A robust evolution of the Crayford RAP Monorail 3″ rests on a solid steel rail rather than on small balls, eliminating tilt even under heavy load. It features a 50 mm stroke, a clear 68 mm aperture, a 1:10 microfocuser for precise adjustments, 360° rotation and threads (M68x1, M74x0.75, M77x0.75) for secure mounting of accessories such as correctors, OAGs and heavy cameras.

RC vs SCT/Mak advantages

  • No Schmidt blade : less fogging, full light transmission, including near-IR.
  • Optical path 100 % reflective no permanent lenses → light gain and better spectral neutrality.
  • No mirror shift : fixed primary, focusing via external focuser → optimal stability in long exposure imaging.
