Dobson Sky-Watcher Skyliner-250P Classic - Visual power at your fingertips

A 254 mm Dobson telescope that combines performance, simplicity and excellent value for money.
With its large 254 mm parabolic mirror, the Skyliner 254 captures impressive details of galaxies, nebulae, star clusters and planets. It's the ideal instrument for advanced visual observation, without compromise.

NEW : supplied with two wide-angle eyepieces (12.5 mm and 20 mm - 70°), a 1.25″ adapter with brass clamping ring to prevent scratching your eyepieces, and a universal smartphone adapter - capture the beauty of the sky with your phone!

What Sir Patrick Moore had to say

"I've used a large number of telescopes; some good, some mediocre, some even bad. For me, the Sky-Watcher range is excellent, suitable for all amateurs - and the prices remain very affordable. Outstanding value for money. Use them and enjoy."
- Sir Patrick Moore CBE FRS (1923 - 2012)

A fluid, robust Dobson mount

The principle behind the Dobson mount is simple: smooth, intuitive azimuth movement, without motors or electronics. The whole unit is designed to easily follow a celestial object with the hand, while remaining perfectly stable. Set-up takes just a few minutes.

High-end optics for the deep sky and planets

The primary mirror parabolic treated RAQ™ offers up to 94 % of reflectivity. This enables faithful reproduction of detail, with excellent brightness. Thanks to its 254 mm diameter, this telescope collects 56 % more light than a 200 mm - a real difference on faint objects.

Examples of observations (classic targets)

  • M42 - Great Orion Nebula The sky: very spectacular, with a beautiful sense of relief. Under urban skies, you can sometimes make out a slight hint of color, depending on the conditions.

  • M57 - Ring Nebula : withstands very high magnifications, around x250, while maintaining a clean image.

  • Sagittarius (Lagoon, Trifid, etc.) Nebulae: bright, detailed nebulae when well positioned in the sky.

  • M27 - Dumbbell Nebula : very bright, easy to spot and particularly rewarding.

  • Planets all the major planets are accessible and offer rich observations (depending on turbulence and height on the horizon).

  • M13 - Hercules globular cluster : handles magnification very well (~x250) and reveals superb granulation.

How far the instrument can go (good sky + optimal conditions)

  • Double-double de la Lyre Separation without difficulty at x250 with careful collimation.

  • M51 - Whirlpool Galaxy The spiral arms start to appear when the sky is quite dark.

  • Dentelles du Cygne (without filter) visible, but very delicate - a typical example of an object that rewards excellent skies.

  • M31 - Andromeda The dust band can appear in good conditions.

  • Jupiter : possible observation of key events such as the eclipses/satellite occultations.

  • Saturn by exceptional seeing, we can go as far as x500 and achieve an impressive level of detail.
